can somebody explain the raricow thing?

Where did it come from exactly?

Raricow started as an edit of a Rarity pic by Redintravenous. The first original artwork (as far as I know) is by Yajima, followed by other eastern artists like Kushina, Toki, and Aruurara. The first by a western artist was by Carnifex (who learned of it because he follows Aruurara) and it took off from there.

The art/porn trends this fandom comes up with boggles my mind sometimes.
