Background Pony #EE62
Hello Derpibooru.

My name is Filler, and I’ve been drawing in the fandom for 2 years. Most of my work is mixed-received. Some getting average votes, while others getting down-voted bombed.

I’m not here to whine about how I cannot get any votes, I honestly don’t care about people’s opinions about my art. Either way, it’s mostly because I don’t follow same ideal sense of drawing in a hive-mind fashion.

I’ve mostly have given up because of the lack of variety in this fandom. It’s just not fun seeing the same “style” imitated and copied for the millionth time.

I’m going to keep it short, but this fandom seems to loathe anything that has personal style or fun into it. They’d rather look at the same air-brushed plastic-looking drawings over-and-over again.

Now, I’m pretty much sick of every single drawing looking the same, so I’m not going to draw anymore. Since people don’t want to see anything creative, I have no use here.

It may be a biased and single-minded opinion, but I think it’s true, to be frank.

Nobody appreciates or understands me so I’m leaving forever, but I wanted to make sure you all know it’s all your fault!

Since you’ve made up your mind I’m not gonna beg, but if you can take a step back I’d recommend reading and following what the posters before me said. Starting with pointing us to your work, because posting as an Anon/artist:filler tag returning nothing does not really tell us who the heck you are.
How can we help, or learn from the terrible crimes we committed if we don’t even know what you’re on about?

You see… like I don’t get these “I’m leaving” rants. It wasn’t like anyone was forced to stay or make art.

The “why the fuck am I still doing this? I have a problem.” Is a more valid thread topic.

Just look into the expansion and jail pony tags. I wanted to be a maverick and combine the two, but apparently people like to go out of their way to downvote my soul.

Everything else just looks the same: not blobular or mostly oranges and greys. Everything else just looks good, and who needs good?

I’m beginning to think this is more of a “I want to be popular artist but not do any of the work it takes to get there”

Thread.

Dear Background Pony #C032

Stop being a goat and hiding as an impostor behind the shadows.

For the sakes of being a noob and just adding “~Filler” and thinking they’re legit, I’ve created an account to prevent such a thing.

As for my OP, I think I was being a little brat when I wrote that, maybe even a goat. In-fact, maybe I could change this thread up to something more positive?

I remember someone asking they wanted to see some example work, and maybe I could post some stuff so others can see how I can improve.

Most of this art is a bit new, so just search up “artist:fillerartist” for my mediocre-ish work.

This was a throw-back to my ask blog. Not really the best, had to keep the paint-splatter colour cards to give it the blog’s feel.

Here’s a really deformed and off-model comic.

Here’s some of my old and nasty work. mostly from the blog.

I actually hate this type of style, now. It looks so flat and cheap.

So, any suggestions?

You basically have a blank slate still. Or you can always disappear, practice, and start over with a new name. I’ve done that four times now.

Although Petey’s right. The fastest way to get good is to force yourself to do a shit-ton of drawings every day, and animation’s perfect for that (assuming it doesn’t cause migraines). Even bad animation is animation we didn’t have before.

I’m doing that for my more major animations (If I ever get in the mood to finish the outline), since I don’t have the money to waste on sheets and sheets worth of layout poses.

Also got in the mood to draw some horses, and I tried to draw a pone from the front for my 1st time today, it was kinda hard with a laptop mouse-pad and GIMP. (Yes, I use GIMP, kill me)

I’m going to outline and colour it later, may post it to this thread.

Jesus man, even Fire Alpaca’s better than GIMP.

And don’t use a mouse, unless you want to/can correctly use vectors (inkscape if you’re looking for open source). Paper’s the way to go without a tablet though.

I think that skill matters more than the tools you use.

If you have skills with GIMP, you can use it pretty well. But if you don’t, then you can’t do anything with it.

I mostly like GIMP because I know the layout well. I’ve use photoshop and Inkscape before, and I don’t like the layouts.

At-least it’s not MS Paint, like I used to do.

Finally got the outline, done. It was rather quick for a mouse-pad drawing.

In order to get this style of lines, I needed to make a custom brush dynamic, looks pretty okay, I guess.

Here’s what it looks like without the blue rough lines, I also fixed the issue with the outline on the head, as I noticed it AFTER I uploaded the 1st one.

Coloured and lazily shaded the image above, the shading is just a transparent black and white blur added to the main colours.
