Boston Marathon bombing

Actually, that looks like fibrous muscle tissue, not arterial tissue. The sheer damage to the area makes it difficult to determine though.

I at least hope he’ll be okay. Though he’ll probably suffer from PTSD. Then he would have to experience phantom pain (like a friend of my mine who recently had to have his pinky amputated because he had Ewing’s sarcoma), then he’d have to get prosthetic legs and go through a lot of rehab. In a nutshell, no fun at all. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

As seen at r/worldnews, where all posts related to the bombing were deleted by the mods because it was American news.

This is just plain sick! It’s times like these that I hate humanity for doing something like this, but at the same time it shows there is still some good in the world with all the help pouring out.

I do have to say something further to say about this. Nothing excuses it, but remember how, when I said in the gun thread that there’s ALWAYS retribution? This, just like 9/11, was probably retribution in someone’s twisted mind for the thousands of innocent people the U.S. has killed in the Middle East since the War on Terror began. There are reasons for everything, and something this violent just doesn’t happen without reasons.
Since America started the war on the Mideast more than a decade ago, we have reduced so many civilians to atoms and bloody shreds that it’s actually surprising there isn’t an attack like this every DAY in America. Nothing and nowhere is safe anymore, realize that. You will forever have to look over your shoulder in fear of the next blast until both sides lay down their guns and bombs and stop slaughtering each other en mass.

I think this jumps to conclusions on who is responsible for the attack. For all we know it could be completely unrelated.

Completely tasteless, I actually pray that this type of suffering does not befall on anyone or someone close to them. No one deserves this and no one should have their suffering made a mocking of. Trolls, I really hope this nothing like befalls on you or someone you care about, the karmic irony would be too much for your small inconsiderate hearts to bear.

Sickening. Completely disgusting and abhorrent.
It’s times like these that I think that humankind is insane. And I adore our species.

It’s also worth noting that Fluttershy is very out of character in that photo. If that actually happened, knowing her personality, she would either faint, runaway, or, if she showed her assertive side, would try to help that guy (who’s name is Jeff Bauman, Jr., btw).

Everywhere I go I see that people think that this shouldn’t be a big deal at all because drone strikes have more deaths everyday. While it is pretty sad that many innocent people (including children) die in those strikes, that’s collateral damage, anyway. We don’t want to kill innocents, but sometimes, those people are just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. We’re only on the lookout for terrorists. The reason why this is such a big deal is because things like this happening in a powerful first world country like America are very rare, so of course it’s a big deal. In Pakistan, the drones are expected. Parts of the Middle East are pretty much war zones, so it’s expected that civilians will be killed. The Boston Marathon, however? Nobody is supposed to die doing that. I have a feeling that if this happened in a country where with people who think this isn’t a big deal, those people’s opinions would probably be pretty different.

Personally I feel it’s worth putting tragedies like this in the context of what happens in the rest of the world not to try and say “it’s not really a big deal” - because it is a big deal - but to make people realise that this shit happens literally every day somewhere in the world and that is AWFUL and we really ought to be working to try and change that.

Actual art tribute (even pony art) for tragic events, I would be glad to see, but shop pony into a picture of victim is just stupid.

When something happen on a daily basis people tend to forget it, only rare events get attention. That can’t be changed.
