Modern music sucks

It does.  
For the most part what our pop culture is terrible.

Pop might suck, but there are enclaves of good music scattered about.

I’ve been saying that since 1997…

He is also smart enough to laugh his ass off at you for starting an argument over it, And won’t care enough to actually get mad at you,

That said I judge songs on a one by one basis and like music from almost every genre and time period, From Marty Robins to Lady Gaga,

Give me an example of this “pop culture”. I haven’t been following it.

Your mom sucks.

Known this for years.  
But then again, i’ll be 37 this year. Not many people make music for my age group.

Just dig through the indie and less known stuff, you’ll find something worth listening to.

Modern stuff wise I mostly stick to metal, especially folk, symphonic, and power. Tyr, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Elvenking, Falconer, Nightwish, Wintersun, Winter Storm, Orden Ogan, Cryonic Temple, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Disturbed, In The Woods, Amon Amarth…that’s just to name a few.
 
Other than that it’s all classic metal and rock going back into the 60’s.

There has and always will be crap produced during any era you care to mention. The current one is not unique in having absolute shit get the most air time.
 
Granted my tastes run toward punk rock, heavy metal ad rockabilly and their assorted esoteric subgenres, so I’m not exactly up to date on the current musical trends.

no, older music was better. Maybe it’s just different now because of the internet and the various new avenues for publicity so it is simultaneously more obnoxiously promoted in my eyes and also the most popular music now has to appeal to so many more people than ever before and as a result become blander in order to earn that same mass appeal.

Pop music and rap fall under the modern music paradigm.  
I don’t merely mean anything that is new, I mean new genres or highly modernized genres.  
They all suck.

Upon further reflection I will state that autotune is a fucking abomination.

I like orchestral, swing, jazz, trance, metal, and rock. Though I do find some Dubsteps catchy.

i might be the only minority but i think the only soundtrack i listen are french house,jazz,disco and video game music.pop today yeah it sucks but back then it didn’t

As someone who is a fan of your so-hated “modern” music, I’ll have to respectfully disagree.

Not everything in this generation sucks, there’s more to today’s music than Justin Beiber and Nicki Minaj

Video Game music is AWESOME.

Because I can dig that being terrible.

Dubstep is worst modern music, a big mind rape. Also, what with people liking random noises merged together? Not than I complain about what they like, but just wondering. Techno is best modern music, maybe I’m crazy, but people will complain if it’s not dubstep. It’s all about taste.
