Nintendo Directs have been very successful, especially considering the buzz the last one gave. Scheduling announcements on their own time instead of forcing themselves into the pack is a sound move. The others are doing it too; PS4’s been revealed months ago, and the nextbox will be shown in May.

Considering the storm of gamers and games media bemoaning how irrelevant E3 was to them last year, does anyone really want to act like this means anything bad?

If you wanna reduce it to that.
It’s more that companies are cutting their own timeframes instead of waiting for one single time of the year to share a single spotlight with their competitors. They’re still showing games at least.

People need to understand that a huge way that corporations operate is not based on their current worth but upon speculation and future growth. Nintendo, having a rather unfortunate time lately, does better to LOWER expectation than it does to fail future expectations. Taking this breathing room allows investors to grow more comfortable and allows investors some time to feel satisfied with future earnings.

Essentially, this is a time when Nintendo can’t build investor enthusiasm so they’re going to play it low key until they have some main releases that they feel will entice investors once more.

Nintendo has their Nintendo Directs, if they’re going to show games anyway then is there even any difference with having a conference? The Wii U needs people to know about its GAMES, it doesn’t need any more coverage than that because nobody cares with its current meager library.
