The Robot Romance Trilogy (Combattler V, Voltes V, and Daimos) were incredibly popular in dictator ruled countries of Philippines, Indonesia, and Cuba during the 1970s to 1980s because it’s storyline mainly focuses on the characters trying to revolt against tyranny and oppression which is a propaganda for all the viewers, particularly children to teach them how to overthrow their countries leaders.
President Ferdinand Marcos banned the airing of Voltes V on August 27, 1979, citing “harmful effects on children” with four remaining episodes left being unaired.
