last week /co/ got wind of a united arab emirates cartoon.
 
initial reactions was positive.
 
this week people are attacking it on grounds of being unoriginal. personally i realize at how similar the trailer was to re:cutey honey but i chalked it up as “homage” rather than “rip-off”.
 
which is probably the case since go nagai stuff is pretty popular in the middle east (or so i heard).
 
which makes me wonder why some western creators who grew up on anime and does homages to it in their shows get a pass but in the UAE’s case, it’s out right “plagiarism”

Eh, the animations a bit choppy so if they fix that, I might watch it.

I am disappointed there were not more Plot relevant Salrians in ME one. Would have liked one on the crew and one with Saren so they would something of an anti-concal.

So apparently the new Gorillaz album, Humanz, is getting highly positive reviews.
 
Just from the leak I heard of the full album, I honestly can’t see it.
 
Though I’m sincerely hoping that it gets better on a second listen.

One Hot Minute by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was a downright explosive album, and Dave Navarro was a great fit for the band. I’d be totally okay with it if he rejoined the Peppers.

You’re right about an earth animal not being the same as a sapient alien species, the fact that they developed on earth with a similar biology means that their minds are vastly more similar to ours than any alien species would likely be.
 
But really what’s even the point of using alien characters if you are just going to make them humans with a different anatomy? The crazy amount of variations of earth creatures alone could at least be used as a starting block when designing aliens. Just because it would take effort and creativity to come up with how an aliens species would act doesn’t mean they shouldn’t even try.

“Wicked” is overrated. It’s just Draco in Leather Pants-style fanfiction.
