I don’t agree with it but I don’t find it stupid. I understand why he does it.

All of the people who whine about batman’s no killing rule as stupid are people who fundamentally do not understand batman as a character.

I don’t like watching images that involve visual illusions.

It’s odd how people like to post that kind of stuff but I’m not a fan. I know the primitive human brain causes a weird interpretation from the thing I’m watching, that’s not fascinating…that’s creepy to think how easy it is to fool the brain.

Every gaming subreddit should strive to be like r/Arkham, r/Silksong and r/Pikmin.

Why haven’t others done so. Are they stupid?

Duh, I was practically born with Pokemon so I think it’s recognition deserves to be from the very beginning.

Of course you weren’t around when the Pokemon craze first showed up. It was already part of the average pop culture by the 2000s just like Spongebob.

Pokemon conquered the world. Even today Power Rangers or Transformers is a footnote compared to the power of the Pocket Monsters.

I cared more about Pokemon than Mario and Power Rangers when I was a kid. I’m not American.

Pokemon 10th anniverserary should have been 2008 in America not 2006. Because Pokemon only came out in 1998 in America and in 1996, kids focused on Mario and Power Rangers not Pokemon.

I miss Dark5’s old types of videos where there was no narration and it was just appropriate music combined with the text. I’m not a fan of their newer videos with narration where he talks fast and out of breath like a nuke is about to strike his house or something.

Going to be honest, I’m surprised that Magiswords creator’s misdeeds are even known about outside the tiny niche of Magisword fans. He’s not like a well known figure like John Lasseter after all.

The ESRB, like the MPRA are non-governmental industry groups. Their content ratings aren’t actually law abiding at all and are directed primarily towards the assumed purchasing guardians of children by making up ratings to broadly advertise the content of the video games (or movies) they reviewed in order to chill criticism by parental groups. In the case of the ESRB it was the backlash by parenting activists in the early 90s over Mortal Kombat and Doom and the threat of congressional oversight in the time of Focus On The Family.

The ratings max out at 18, because at 18 you are legally free of parental oversight in all matters so it doesn’t matter anymore. You get all sorts of financial freedoms as an 18 year old than you would as a 16 year old or even a 13 year old. So it makes even less sense to establish parental control ratings for anyone who is a legal adult

Frankly, it’s all arbitrary. Like how the age of consent is less than 18 in some US States and as little as 12 or 13 in some countries. Or like how weed is legal in California, Nevada, Colorado, etc.; but not in Texas, Utah, Idaho, etc.

I mean, with people hating the idea of 18/19 year Olds dating someone older, and with good reason, why does R and M have 17+ instead of 20+ if they’re not old enough to date or drink?

I’ll be honest, I’m not really big on Soulslike games.

I’ve given both Bloodborne and Elden Ring a fair shot, and I just couldn’t get into either of them. The controls feel way too sluggish and slow, the worlds felt kinda dull, and the idea of having to potentially redo hours of progress just because you accidentally dodgerolled when you were supposed to parry is enough to turn me off completely.

I get enough of this frame data shit from fighting games, thank you very much.

The R rating and the M rating should be increased to 20+.

It’s chill be sure there’s no pressure on doing the goal and you can just putzt about and catch bugs and water flowers. There’s a non-insignificant base (at least non-insignificant) that really really crave having no pressure in games. They might experience enough of that IRL. So an escape is loading into your animal crossing village or island and getting to just do things

As an american, paying off your debt is the ultimate power fantasy. Dragons and unicorns are more realistic than that.

Virtually every single videogame is in a way a power fantasy, so I’d still expect a somewhat more flamboyant or adventurous experience, or even simply a larger scale thingy like Sim City rather than just “virtual life”.

Animal Crossing seems like life simulator but furry.

I don’t understand the appeal of Animal Crossing.

What I’ve seen is comparable to “day-to-day in a virtual world”.

This is also a people problem, you know. The thing about mass religions is that there’s something for basically everyone in it, and most people don’t have the strength to live up to the principles they claim to profess. Instead, most, especially these days, instead of changing their ways to live up to these principles, prefer to bend them into forms that don’t incovenience them or make them challenge their prejudices. But then again, if it was easy to be a saint, there wouldn’t be much point to celebrating them.
