It’s a shame for Toy Story’s case, it keeps having its endings imply that the series is over, but the grubby little hands at the House of Mouse keep using dark magic to revive these toys long past their long expiration dates. I’m pretty sure even Pixar themselves are tired of these sequels and want to move forward with more original IP’s

Yeah, Encanto was such a great movie and Disney decided to forget about it for some reason.

Disney is desperate to milk all their properties from Moana to Toy Story and yet the one movie that probably would benefit from more milking, Encanto, is left to rot.

The film literally has mulitple family members with unique personalities.

Same here. Stupid competitive comparison they pretend is motivational, when in reality it just makes you more depressed than ever.

Anyone can go out and do drugs, get someone killed, get sent to jail, and cause trouble for their parents too. Why can’t I, right?

I hate the “If anyone can do it, why can’t you?” motivational saying by literally every single parents. Not everybody has the same privilege, situation, and mental stability. No one can function like anyone.

I just don’t use or say insults unless I see genuine stupidity or I get extremely annoyed/irritated

And how is retard a slur? The F-word and N-word are slurs, but I don’t see how retard is also a slur, let alone on the same level as them. I’ve only seen it used like dumb and stupid and rarely as a medical term.

Honestly, I feel like taking a hard stance against retard is weird, since terms like dumb, stupid, idiot and the like are also medical terms turned into insults, but people aren’t upset about them being used as insults.

Games are art, some more than others, I’ve played games and been blown away by the scenery, music and atmosphere in them.

Not really since the two have different practices. Slightly, but significant enough to be meaningful. Whether or not he could be identified by a noble Lord as his serf, if said serf lived within city walls often for a year and a day, he was legally considered a freeman of the city. Full citizenship of the city not with-standing because that’s buried behind more legal qualifications to obtain (marriage, guild membership, property, etc)

However in the modern world of the liberal nation-state the distinctions are practically a mute point and for the liberal revolutionaries of the French Revolution and onwards serfdom was often treated the same as slavery as a form of un-freedon

serfdom is just a politically correct term for slavery.

I mean, the same can be applied to movies. “I just want to watch this out of simple enjoyment” vs “It is a serious art form where what is shown on screen must always be of certain quality for my viewing experience”. Though it only becomes the former when said movie is hot garbage like a Disney remake.

The core of the discourse isn’t whether or not they are art in and of themselves, which is always true. But whether they are perceived as art by wider audiences. The trials of every new medium has been to make known its artist merits by attaching itself to the merits of the previous prestige art form. Film like novels, prestige TV like theater, and video games like movies.

The matter is complicated by how gamers all have identity issues both demanding to be seen as serious art enjoyers while having no cultural merit of their own, and then rejecting it because their hobby does become seen as and judged as serious art and they don’t want them in their hobby
