I remember I relied on my Pigitoto, Nidorino and Butterfree when I played Yellow and one.

Seeing as how the target audience likely don’t know a think about battles, this is a good way to teach them about type advantage.

Saying you need a Grass and a Water type before you face off against Brock is too insulting. And it’s like the kid in front still says you are lightyears away.

Heck in Yellow I mostly used Butterfree to beat Brock because I didn’t know Pikachu didn’t do damage.
 
Just saying it’s more insulting to the player if the game prevents you from getting the badge.

Honestly, I’m with them on this one. There’s a difference between “teach new players about type advantages” and “literally prevent them from proceeding unless they have this specific type advantage already.”
 
Why even give Pikachu Double Kick as a counter to Brock’s team if they’re not even gonna let you use it?

I don’t think Rock Types have good Special attack and Butterfree is fast.

Rock is physical, Butterfree’s weakness is physical, and Onix got a boost to special defence due to the special split of gen 2, at they’re tied in speed.

Yes, and if you played Firered/Leafgreen or look at the wiki, you might noticed that the series and pokemon have changed over the generations. And are you really suggesting going through the game with six Butterfrees?

The phrase ujira comes from the full yokai/name Yetoujira is based off of which is the Bake-kujira. Plus the long, plesiosaur like body comes from the Basilosaurus, which is what it’s also based off of
