Time to get spooky
So one of the books we tried selling is called Once Upon a More Enlightened Time, and it calls itself “political correct bedroom stories.” I can think of three categories of what that means:
-
The author thinks PC is bad and is taking the piss out of it.
-
The author is for PC but thinks it means everything they don’t like is bad and goes against PC.
-
The author is for PC but can still laugh at group and mock their version in the book.

I hope it’s not 1, since those tend to be the people who are upset that they’re looked down abound when using slurs and says everyone is just sensitive.

Not always, some people do take political correctness too far the pro-PC way too, like those trying to censor old black comedians, and such… (Richard Pryor and such would be banned nowadays from some comedy clubs.)

My personal version of political correctness is basically, “don’t be a jerk, but also don’t be offended by everything.”

I was more talking about people who get offended by everything, and think even being a little politically incorrect is always bad.

If done right, it can be ok, but there are edgelords who make say un-PC jokes that are more offensive than funny, and don’t understand how to tell a good offensive joke. You have to reach that “refuge in audacity.”
Though, some stuff like that bad Netflix reboot of “Good Times” is just wrong. (Even the baby sells drugs.)

I take issue with “don’t be offended by everything.”
It is one’s right to be offended. If you’re offended, you’re offended. Don’t try to mold yourself according to peer pressure or social trends. Be yourself. If you’re offended over something. Congratulations, you’re just being honest.
Like me. I’m offended by a lot of things I let slide, but I understand that people don’t share my sensibilities and I am clearly not entitled to an apology, nor do I expect everyone to bend over backwards, drop what they’re doing to accommodate me and what I want.
My coworkers think I’m not offended by their jokes. I AM. But it seems like everyone else enjoys them, so I make a mental note that some jokes I find offensive are let slide in this workplace that I’m in, and I simply move on with my life.

That’s understandable, though I’m not saying you can’t be offended ever, (especially if there’s a good reason as you pointed out) I can get offended too, but I can let it slide, and I can take a politically incorrect joke at my expense sometimes too.

I’m just saying some people do get easily offended by some things, or by everything, and overreact as a result. So there is extremism on both sides.
Like I remember a guy here tried to claim the MLP FIM show “hates Spike,” and being the closest thing to the only male main character, he tried to claim the show runners “hate him,” and “all males,” ignoring all the times the female characters were prone to humorous moments, and slapstick too, and all the positive things that Spike did too.
I don’t know, some people try to make an issue out of everything, and that’s why political correctness has a bad rap sometimes.

That said, that also doesn’t mean I support people saying flat out, unfunny, unironic, offensive things, and such, which do annoy me.
It’s also annoying when edgelords who say flat out racist things try to defend it by saying they were “just joking,” and looking at their comments, you wonder, “Where is the joke?”
There is a difference between a slightly offensive or un-PC joke, and also flat out saying something blatantly racist.

Sorry to rant a bit. lol

overreact
kinda the key word here. guys need to stop taking online behavior offline. I’m legit blaming parasocial interaction. Impressionable ppl seeing their outlandish favorite online persona do stupid shit for clout, are led to believe that they’re therefore, the norm. That includes overreacting to the slightest offense, as if patience is no longer a factor…It’s as if they’re on a platform with an audience and must therefore perform a certain way, else someone might fraudcheck you.
I personally never asks someone why they’re offended over something. Everyone’s idiosyncratic and their life experiences makes them who they are. I DO ask if they think they’re entitled to throw tantrums in public over them, tho. Some ppl just be saying things because talking is free.

Good points, and I admit, I get annoyed by that too. Heck, I get annoyed when people use online slang words IRL. (I’ve seen people who’d say “El oh el” IRL and I’m all, “What?”)

And I’ve seen grown people throw tantrums in public too, as well as where I work, and my nieces and nephews don’t even do that anymore. It’s incredibly childish.

Videogame mission control be like:
“Make a fast action, capture the objective as efficiently as possible and try not to be gun-ho. I’d recommend to keep as many villages intact.”

Videogame guides and playthroughs:
“It’s commendable to pick a battle with the two armies near the river, try to keep the towns alive.”
“It’s commendable to pick a battle with the two armies near the river, try to keep the towns alive.”
What some gamers actually hear:
“This is a videogame so there’s not Geneva convention. Burn all the villages, destroy all the civilians, poison their water and steal their resources.”

Because of a parody image here that I commented on, I’ve been rewatching episodes of Camp Lazlo and while far from a perfect series, it was a good show with a lot of funny moments. Crazy that this was made by the same guy who created Rocko’s Modern Life.

I’ve seen a few episodes of that show. Thought it was alright. That is crazy though; Rocko’s Modern Life is a classic series for sure!

Whenever I get frustrated, I say “Grrr!!” like a dog. I also say “goddammit” way too much when I get upset.

There should be some episodes kicking around online. At least, hopefully. Haven’t seen it on any streaming sites.
But anyway, the praise is definitely deserved

Look at all the sedated cats in prep for being spayed or neutered.
Ahahah poor them they literally have zero idea what’s about to happen to them in the next few minutes. No more breeding.
Also lessens risk of cancer after this. ;)
My cat is in 4th row right side of this pic.
