Actually, the remake
was pretty good, professional critics just weren’t kind to it (which isn’t surprising, since they weren’t kind to the original games either). It’s flawed and not for everyone, admittedly, but it’s not a terrible game like what the critics made it out to be.
It’s also a shame that Bandai Namco never seems to want to acknowledge the Splatterhouse series. They recently included the original arcade game on the latest version of Namco Museum for the Switch, which is pretty cool, but other than that, Splatterhouse usually never gets any sort of references in other games (at least none that I know of) or any representation in big crossovers (imagine Rick Taylor in a Project X Zone game interacting with characters from Capcom’s Resident Evil and Sega’s House of the Dead).
