The Ratchet and Clank Thread

With a large library, recent gane, and upcoming movie, I’m surprised this didn’t happen earlier.  
As the name would suggest, this is a thread about the Ratchet and Clank series. From 2002 to 2016, this series has been a staple of the PlayStation family.
 
The movie is going to be amazing.

Y’know, I think I have the whole series but only managed to play the very first one and the first one on PS3.

You really need to play it, it’s such an amazing series. There’s tons of variety both between each game and in each game.

I know. Problem was I got a PS2 pretty late. By the time I’d managed to scrounge together the entire series I already had much of a backlog. Then stuff and life and such got in the way. I still intend to, though. Last time I played I was replaying the first one to get all the gold weapons.

I actually have the “HD Collection” of the first three games on the PS3. I’ve barely touched them, though.

Probably my favorite game franchise in existence. I’ve played every mainline game, and Size Matters. Never got around to playing the Secret Agent Clank games nor the 4player co-op titles from a few years back.
 
I actually got super lucky a few weeks back, my cousin who manages the local cinema was able to grab one of the promotional posters for the movie, got it hanging in my art room right now.
 
It’s a shame that the Action/Platformer genre has waned of late, I yearn for the halcyon days when that was pretty much the dominate force before the rise of the FPS. Granted, I do love me some FPS’s, just miss the good ol’days.

I’d say the series is the best platformer.  
Size Matters was my first real start into the series. I played the original at my dad’s work, but there was no Memory Card. I’m currently looking into getting a PS2 to play the originals.

Ratchet has that one on lock-down. There is nothing that Jak could field that can keep up with Ratchets arsenal and armor.

People are saying the Dark Eco Nova that was a screen clear attack back in Jak 2 and 3. However, Ratchet has tanked worse shit than that.
 
Also, most of Ratchets weapons and utility gadgets counter Jak. Magna boots and gav boots for mobility, jet and hover packs for aerial combat, and a whole host of fire and forget weapons like deployable turrets, micro bots, and Mr. Zurkon. Yea, Jak has magic and a bit of firepower, but Ratchet has an arsenal that can level a small galaxy and take a dent out of the next one over.

Ratchet has literally made friends with the god of time.

while ratchet defiantly has Jak outgunned: 10+ guns over 7 games to Jak’s … 12 mode morph gun  
jak is more fit then ratchet is, plus he has Dark and Light jak.  
that said Ratchet’s done more the jak has:  
Jak saves the ‘zones’, city, then planet.  
Ratchet saves whichever galaxy he winds up in.  
Plus Giant Clank.

Also Ratchet has been trained as a commando, trained as a solider, survived a death tournament, and his knowledge of mechanics shows he’s likely more intelligent.
 
 
Also, across the entire series excluding spin offs, there are 382 guns including Omega variants. So “out gunned” is an understatement. Add to that the various gadgets, armors, and utility items…
 
It’ll be like the Lex Vs. Ironman fight. Lex was more powerful by and large, but Tony ended up wining due to being more versatile and adaptable.

Not to mention he has 10 weapons that are dangerous enough to be banned all across the galaxy, with one of them summoning an orbital strike wherever.
