Artist gone missing

So, I was looking for an image, and was befuddled to discover that not only could I no longer find it, but all traces of that artist have silently vanished. (On Derpbooru, anyway.) I have checked the DNP list, and unless she uses a different name than I remember, she’s not on it. The artist (and her OC) are “Sketchy” - she runs the Tumblr Ask A Sketchy Pony. I watched her livestream a few posts, through Derpibooru’s interface.
 
Now, it’s not that I’m super extra attached to that artists work, specifically, but it really, really weirds me out when stuff on the internet vanishes without a trace.
 
Anybody know what happened?

It doesn’t seem like much at all was ever uploaded here to begin with. Would much appreciate help remedying that.

Oh, no yeah, that WAS the artist’s name, but I could swear she had quite a bit more stuff on the site…. I don’t know, my memories are getting all blurry and I can’t be totally sure I’m not just remembering the blog. Is there any conceivable way or reason her stuff would have disappeared like my memory says it did?

Not afaik, and a check on possible artist names as well as sources only brought up just the two images and nothing deleted. Mayhaps the one Ask A Sketchy Pony image led you to their tumblr and your memory fudged things together.

So, uh, is standard procedure for Tumblrs just to systematically upload and tag all the images, or what? Or do we try to be more judicious in selecting images? And regarding multi-image updates, I remember sometimes seeing, like, uploaded composite images made up of the several frames of a given update, but I’m not sure how to do that aside from tediously importing them into GIMP, etc…. Thanks!

I’m of the opion of UPLOAD EVERYTHING, LET TAGS/FILTERS SORT IT OUT. So ideally I’d like to see every pony tumblr ever uploaded, with the description field including any necessary context -_-
 
As for comics/multipanel stuff, it indeed requires an image editor to sort out. I personally use Inkscape because it lets me drag panels around as self contained boxes and sort formatting and whatnot very easily.

Hi. I’m KatOtter, The artist in question and yes I believe your a might confused. Perhaps because Derpibooru has started linking my livestreams without me doing anything as of late. While I’m flattered, no I have never uploaded my stuff here. I prefer my art on the tumblr where it belongs…As it has context there. It’s an OC blog, and people just get confused thinking Sketchy is a young Chrysalis without the means to find background context. I was unaware I needed to tell people to not frakenstein edit my comic stuff together. Really, please don’t do that.
 
That is the very reason my comic is on TUMBLR are in multiple frames. To make it harder to repost, as it’s happened and clearly didn’t link people to my blog or anything…
 
Tell you what. If I find out there’s a demand and an audience untouched here I’ll start uploading work myself. But in the meantime, I’d prefer my Sketchy stuff stays where it’s at please. :>

Thank you very much, Smiling. Comic art aside, I’m fine and even pleased with the stream being up. I was a little confused when people started showing up from here and I didn’t know why, but once I figured it out I was happy with it as new means of attracting viewers and those streams get get a bit bare.

It does help that here people are specifically looking for pony stuff. On tumblr unless you manage to get a bunch of followers from another place, you’re kind of going to be swept aside from all the other stuff.

I’ll take it all into consideration. I’ve already got a tidy following on tumblr, so breaking onto a new site would take a lot of work. But if might be well worth it.

As for this site, admittedly OCs and tumblr-verse comics don’t get as much attention unless they’re hyper popular or updated frequently, in which case they’re already popular on Tumblr, anyway.
 
Even as the guy that owns this place, I can’t recommend it as a primary art site if you already have an audience; our purpose is mainly to be an archive and let people find things easily, given all the various different art sites have somewhat lacking search and filtering features. For people just starting off, it’s helpful to get a good amount of people that would otherwise have never seen you interested and hope some stick with you offsite as well.

Alright, that makes sense. I don’t know that most of my comics would work outside of their broken panel format joke-wise anyways, as the pacing would be off if they were together. But I might make an account to put up my non comic work, and fanart I suppose, as it would fit in well enough and I could make sure everything was linked to my satisfaction.

Well depending on how big the panels are, you an easily expand it and still read it page by page.
 
Although you’re kinda on your own if one of them is animated. Likely have to hotlink it in the description or something.

Panels are generally not an issue. Uploaders here will almost always compile the different panels into one large image, and add addition information like context, asks or links to other pages in the Decription field.
 
And it’s not a bother; trying to keep this place running is my hobby, after all =p

Yeah, I’m afraid I fit in gifs now and then, so if they don’t work in this format that can be an issue. In any event, thanks for all your info. It bodes careful consideration. :>

If it’s just like one panel is a gif, then usually we just put a good frame from it in the stitched together comic. Then hotlink the animated panel in the description.
