Concerning the one posting "Nightmare Dupe" or Dupes in general

or dupelestia, is there anyway we could ban the IP address of the person sending this? some websites use this or just ban the ability of BP’s to post other than comments.

TSP…please be merciful, this user seems to be really a newbie…

Banning the BP’s from posting images would be bad, and would mean that the person posting the dupes would “win”, since everyone but him would suffer the consequences.
 
Alot of uploads on this site are from BP’s, and you can’t let one spammer ruin that.

The one responsible for the nightmare dupes is Kein. He changes his IP twice a day, so it’s impossible to ban him for good.

I, for one, didn’t notice Nightmare Dupe. What is it anyway?

i afraid kein and all the drama has made TSP reach the tranquil fury state…

So this is probably not exactly related to the topic (didn’t read it), but I figure it’d post here instead of making a new thread about dupes.
 
Apparently anyone (or the OP?) can just reject the dupe, even if it’s clearly a dupe? I’ve had to manually report two duplicate posts now. Isn’t the new system supposed to make that unnecessary?

It is the OP who accepts and rejects the auto-dupe. That’s fucking worthless. It isn’t any different than before, it’s just a way to reduce reports so the mods feel less guilty about a list of reports they don’t want to read.
 
We might as well go back to what we were doing before and manually reporting them.

We get all the reports, no matter what the uploader rejects or not. The only thing an uploader rejecting it does is “hide” the public message to normal users.

No, I’m not doing anything about them, because I’m trying to have a nice vacation from everything but essential “oh shit the booru is on fire” crap.

To be perfectly honest, with the new system in place, I managed to almost completely forget the new dupes page location. (familiarity with the old system and whatnot.)
 
So I haven’t been doing my share of fixing them either.  
For that, I’m sorry.

Forgive me for a potentially dumb question, but, um…
 
When I want to use the Report A Duplicate thing, it says:
 
This is the ID number you think this image should be merged into.  
For instance, if you think image 1 is a dupe of image 0, you would go to image 1 and enter 0 in this box.
 
When I want to report that there’s a new version of an image and that the old version should be merged into it, then should I report the old version?

Yes; you’d go to the old image and put in the number of the new version in the report field thingy.

I have a suggestion; have you ever considered a reverse-image search function to reduce the chances of uploading a dupe? I know it won’t be enough to combat Kein/kein (I’m not sure how you capitalize his name)…
