Feature suggestions and discussion [READ THE FIRST POST]

We’ve thrown about ideas for an ignore-esque feature like that for a long time, in several forms:

A filter-based system
An actual ignore list
A shadowbanning system similar to reddit

But the truth is that if you’re doing things to end up on these sorts of lists whereby a significant number of people want to block what you’re saying from their view, we probably don’t want you on the site. We don’t want to have people need to avoid your input, we just don’t want you posting whatever garbage you’re posting to annoy/upset/offend so many people. We deal with enough personal-feud related drama, honestly, and things like that are going to effect a movement of sockpuppeting to get around the ignore lists to continue offending. No thanks.

Because that page is a list of recent comments on images across the site. It’s a site-wide index.

Is there/Can there be a tag that allow me to search trough my favs in order I fav them?
Also tag that allow me to sort by score would be nice too. I know search engine on site can do that, but I need tag for this.

Why? You can use my:faves for your complex filters and for the search? So why a tag?
You can even search/filter by user name just with faved_by:zykfryt_uchiha

We don’t keep any kinda timestamp or sequence identifier for favorites, so it’s hard for the system to know when you favorited something. Sorry!

If dating that sort of thing is important, use galleries; custom or by addition date order is possible there. Plus, easier thematic differentiation.

My:faves will as mentioned above find any pictured that has been faved by you, but sorting them in the order of when they were faved is not currently possible (and might be impossible to implement if the system does not keep track of specifically when someone faved something). Search syntax terms for all the sorting options would be a nice feature, but isn’t really a must have, though adding a dropdown next to the top searchbar would be a nice way of skipping having to scroll down to choose sort options after searching.

Pardon me if the suggestion has been made before, but of particular interest, especially on the RP section would be a feature that lets you specifically find threads a certain user has started.

There should be a badge simply for reaching say 30-50k posts. Hell quasar nova is already at 105k, id say thats a badge in and of itself but this is a suggestion.

Understandable. However if it is implemented it should be given only by staff as to not get some doof a badge they didnt earn. Over my two accounts alone i have maybe 18k Rp posts.

Probably never gonna happen. If someone’s bothering you, ignore them, and if they’re harrassing you or breaking rules, report them.

I think it would be good, even if it is only as a per comment hiding feature. Because sometimes, it isn’t against the rules, but just something you dislike, or would filter if it is was a picture from the site.

It would just be nice to hide posts you don’t want to see from a specific user. It seems obvious, I mean I see no reason why it /shouldn’t/ happen; aside from ‘it can be abused’, which, I don’t even know how you would abuse a feature like that.

I’m not sure if this has been suggested already, but what about a ‘brohoof’ system like MLP Forums has, or a reputation system in general? For both good comments on images, and posts. That would be dope.

God that figures!! So many things that would be a great addition to the site ruined by abusers! Why not just ban the abusers and keep the functionality?

Also I’d like to hear your thoughts on the ignore list suggestion.

It seems so unfair to remove perfectly functional features just for the sake of preventing abuse when you could just punish people accordingly, instead of having the whole userbase suffer.

So if not a full on reputation system, what about just a ‘like’ system, similar to MLP forums ‘brohoof’ system that I mentioned, as it only tracks positive reputation instead of inviting abuse to get the worst score possible.

That way, only positive behavior is rewarded.

Problem is such things require more moderation, more time for moderators to spend on moderating users and more moderators in general. Nobody wants that.

As for a “Like” system, you’d quickly see utter shtitposts being “Liked” en-masse by the same sort of asswipes.

As for user comment filtering, a mod talked about it earlier; server side it’s not trivial, and if it someone a lot of people want filtered then they’d probably be worth reporting and banning anyway. I don’t like the route a lot of platforms take of “If someone’s harassing you just block them”. If it’s something very specific, effort-wise it’d be more economical for the few to look into userscripts that block comments from certain users; they exist, but I don’t track them.

Ignoring would be taxing on the server. Plus it’d likely cause more problems in the community than it’d solve, because conversations would start becoming very partial, like if someone says something then someone else responds, then a third person who’s ignoring the first person would see a random response, or if they’re ignoring the second person they may give the same response.

Basically, things become echo chambers, and then turn messy.
