MLP G5 Discussion and Speculation Thread

Wait, so if gen 5 is supposed to be a sequel to gen 4… than what happened to Spike? Every generation had their own Spike so how did gen 4 Spike continue to gen 5? Or is there gonna be another dragon called Spike in the same universe?

maybe there will be a really old spike, or maybe there’s a spike jr./II?

In terms of Twilight and Spike appearing, my thoughts is that they could very well be around but simply not factor into the main plot. They might have the main story start off with lower stakes and such than FiM did, with more of a focus on how the common pony lives.

Now that we know G5 is set in the same universe as G4 (I’m still extremely surprised by this fact), maybe it’s safe to say the art style will be the same as we see in Imalou’s recent stuff.

Really I always though FIM usually had low stakes. Can you be more specific? I still need to catch to a lot of MLP after all.

Often the premieres and finales of each season, as well as the Movie, had a villain come along and put all of Equestria at risk in some manner.

I see. Interesting idea. I guess it can start out as just a typical day in x place.

If there’s gonna be any conflicts in the show, I really want them to be more internal or in the group of the main cast , than run-of-the-mill “we have save Equestria”.

For the movie, rather than huge stakes, it should be personal stakes. Start small, and it can work its way up from there. That way, we don’t have the nagging flaw from FiM where the heroes save Equestria time and again but nobody recognizes them.

I think that would be great. Save the epic stuff for later. For now just start off as normies living their lives.

The G5 movie will leak early because Hasbro.

That might take a lot better writing to inspire fans - and lose some inevitably. The grand scale of FIM was a draw to many.

Could also be solved by having them either be recognised, or operating in secret.

I mean in the end I’m fine with either tbh. I simply think that having more personal stakes rather than external stakes could give it a more unique flavor compared to FiM. A conflict with more shades-of-grey, rather than a black-and-white villain trying to take over the world.

Well, G5 is supposedly taking place in the same world as G4 but what if, through the use of magic mirrors, they aren’t always in the G4 we know. Hell, they could visit the different timelines Starlight made, EqG, the opposite world from the IDW comic’s Reflections arc and maybe even G3 if they wanted.

It could be really fanservicey but if they’re banking on fans of G5 being fans of G4 then the only thing they have to do to work is explain “these characters are visiting Equestria if this thing was different.” It’s your basic portal fantasy with a bit more structure to the type of world the protagonist lands in.

Mmm yeah… that sounds like something off of Doctor Who, lol… it’s still interesting, but I don’t think the writers have time for all that… Like someone said before, I kinda what gen 5 to be in a alternative G4 world.

I’d prefer a wholly different world than a rehash of a world we’ve already spent a long time with. If they want to do an alternate universe G4, they may as well go all the way with it otherwise what’s the point? It’d just be G4.75 at that point.

I kind of see G5 taking place in the same world with a new generation As them having their cake and eating it too.  
It can be its own show without fully hitting the reset button. I didn’t want new versions of the m6 (Especially considering it would be the 3th time)  
But I also didn’t want it to be a to a direct continuation. So it’s kind of going to be like So it’s kind of going to be like a link between worlds It is technically example but it stands completely on it’s own
