Aaaaaand that’s where my agreement ends. Not only do I think that’s a bad episode, but it’s worst Starlight episode. Bar none. It’s like insultingly bad, because it just spits in the face of her character development by going out of it’s way to make her 100% in the wrong by having her make stupid and bad decisions left right and center with literally no explanation, plus the snoring trait was never a thing before or after the episode, so it was made for that episode alone just to give Trixie a (not very good) reason to be annoyed with her. It’s one of the best examples of “because the plot demands it” or “just to cause conflict. Other good examples is Matter of Principals and Filli Vanilli)
I know I’ve complained enough about that damned episode but I honestly don see why any of you, such loving fans of Starlight, who respect her character, not only think this is a good episode but one of the best Starlight episodes. It literally makes no sense to me. Not even from a shipping standpoint because there’s nothing shippy about how they act. They’re constantly hostile with each other and basically break up near the end over stupid shit. And it’s not even the first time we see them at an impasse. This is like the 3rd or 4th time we’ve seen them at odds with each other and it even continued in season 9 to some extent. So on top of character derailment it really just reinforced my issues with their friendship and was the final nail in the coffin with me. It is so not a healthy friendship, to the point where I can make a video essay about it. I mean, just one example of why: You got 2 incredibly flawed individuals. One (Starlight) constantly tries to fix her mistakes and learns and grows from it, the other (Trixie)…..doesn’t. Maybe she acts like she learned something but it’s completely forgotten about later (and arguably gets worse over time). Friendship is a two way street and the writers seemed to only focus on one and not the other. Even tho the one they ignore is obviously more problematic, in a way that can’t be ignored.
Wow lol, THAT was a rant. Sorry to shit on half of your guy’s ship or otp but I just don’t see the appeal because nothing about their dynamic screams “shipping”if anything it screams the opposite.
Full disclosure though: I know I’m the only one here who thinks this. So instead of taking it out on you and arguingagain I’m just gonna fully embrace my craziness like I should’ve done long ago
@DerpyFast
That’s…..actually a good point.
See, that’s proper critique. If more people did that, then I’d honestly have very little to complain about.

It did give Starlight one of the best episodes ever: Road to Friendship.
