The Source Engine isn’t exactly good at memory management in general, i.e. It can’t do anything else while loading anything. But Source Filmmaker takes the cake for just how poorly you can optimize a program. The memory cleaning routine appears to have been programmed by having Puppysmiles repeatedly bang her head on a toaster while Kass sings Schwarzweiss Kiri No Mukou Ni Tsunagaru Sekai off key while playing the 1812 Overture on a broken lirone. Most of the time, the only way to reduce memory usage at all is to restart the program entirely. Perpetual Beta or no, there’s no excuse for memory management to be this abysmal in any program.

Yeah, I need to put some in that first sentence. But that is legit what I think of SFM’s memory management right now. What was the highest number of objects onscreen at once in the TF2 videos? Probably less than 17 if my memory usage is any indication…

Hmm, that’s still not it. That’s just the thread for the MLP movie specifically. I was looking for a general movie thread. See, I started one in general discussion this past weekend and nobody replied to it, so I had a mod lock it.

It turns out batteries have expiration dates. And since they’re not food, they don’t have to have them displayed.
 
Also, Windows 10 seems to want to randomly disconnect my external hard drive for no reason. Windows 10 is the worst fucking operating system I’ve ever used, even worse than ME. I’m going back to 7.

Yes, batteries have expiration dates, but they’re put 9-10 years in advance (that is, batteries made today would have an expiration date around 2026-2027) so you must have found some really freaking old batteries.

Since nobody in my family has any sort of computer repair skills, and I’m not about to start down the road of self improvement now, we end up having to buy a new laptop computer every 4 or 5 years when an old one quits working.

I don’t think it’s fair to criticize something for being edgy when it’s aimed at people younger than the sorts of people who create edgy characters in the first place.
