A lot of his stuff is fabricated bullshit despite the heavy amount of research in his books. If you’re familiar with the movie “The DaVinci Code”, then you know the type of stuff that he deals with.
My comment is directed towards his recent book “Origin” which is about science vs. religion. Most of it was conspiracy and nonsense rambling to me, but the twist at the ending just left me putting my hands over my face.

In his defense, he’s usually pretty open about most of his books being “fabricated bullshit,” it’s just that for some reason people tend to miss that and take it at face value.
On the other hand, sometimes the stuff he actually DOES put research into for his books is incorrect.

The book is about an American scientist and atheist named Edmond Kirsch who wants to unveil a presentation to the world that would shake the foundation of religion to its core to answer two questions: “Where Do We Come From? Where Are We Going?” He also designed an AI named “Winston” who would help him in making his presentation and making sure everything run smoothly. Before he would show it, he gets assassinated and a conspiracy starts running about the circumstances of his death. At the end, it was revealed that it was Winston himself, where he helped the main character and his partner throughout the novel in making sure his broadcast goes live despite his death, who ordered the hit on his creator by his request in order to reach a wider global audience. He was also the one who started spreading the conspiracy theories around to generate more buzz.

…That’s a mix of brilliant and moronic, I’ll admit. Still, if his findings were solid, wouldn’t it be better for him to live and study it further? Imagine if after he died, it was revealed that he made some critical errors, and it’s never fixed since he died beforehand, making his suicide counterproductive.

The thing is, in the novel, Edmond was really sick and was taking both drugs and medicine to numb the pain and he only had a few weeks to live. He ordered Winston to assassinate him I guess so he won’t prolong the inevitable, but most importantly like I said, to reach a wider audience and for the whole world to watch his presentation and his final words before his death.

I’d think the discovery of humanity’s in life would get spread around quickly, while making it into a conspiracy can easily make the message get lost by those that are just there for the conspiracy and not the reason.
