But yeah, this whole bullying aspect is bull. When the kids get emotionally depressed enough and do something drastic, no one ever blames the bullies or the people who let the bullies get away. It’s true that trying to “disprove” real scientific data via anecdotes is definitely a waste of time; can’t argue with you there.
It’s not cherry picking. It was just the 2 most recent cases of zero tolerance that I could think of off the top of my head. I’d go dig up more but that’ll never change your point of view and I don’t feel like wasting my time on someone who’s just trying to drag race into a discussion where it doesn’t belong.
You’re right. Citing two cherry-picked cases that received media attention totally invalidates actual statistics collected over almost 20 years of “zero tolerance” policies in action.
If two kids that got ridiculous punishment were white, that means racism doesn’t exist, and the overwhelming evidence that shows otherwise dissolves in a puff of logic.

“Zero tolerance” could very well be called “zero intelligence” or “zero effort”. It’s because the rule-makers are either too lazy, incompetent, or overworked to do anything more than slap a one-size-fits-all punishment on literally any infraction, no matter how minor.
There is a difference between useless and powerless, Cheerilee has 2 options here really.
She has no power to force DT to change (and the newspaper incident was just a judgment oversight, no one is perfect) so she really just has to put up with it and hope for a chance to turn the girl around somehow. it stinks but it is reality.
And that kid who got suspended for biting a pop-tart in the shape of a gun was what race?
The boy who was suspended with police involvement over kissing a girl was what race?

I thought “zero tolerance” was short for “zero tolerance for black kids; turn a blind eye to the rest”? At least that’s the way it’s been practised since these policies came into vogue in the 90’s.
