It’s definitely a curious episode. Everything is intricately linked, and it relies heavily on emotion, so if you can’t get emotionally invested, the episode doesn’t really work. Really, it all hinges on whether or not you found Diamond Tiara’s character change to be believable.

I personally feel like there was enough there for a believable arc, even if things did happen a bit fast. But I completely understand if people find it rushed and/or not believable.

That’s only because of some of them hitting on a more personal level than others. The CMC one didn’t feel nearly as emotional to me as, say, “Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3” or “Equestria Games” did, but for me, they just take me out of my comfort zone due to a disturbing sense of familiarity.

Amending Fences felt less awkward to me, though. To me, it felt more like they just took a character and turned it into Hermit Twilight Sparkle, then built a whole episode around an obvious breakdown the character would have due to Twilight Sparkle being so adamant about “being friends”.

I feel like it’s a great example of the benefits of waiting to react. At the TIME, it’s emotional n’ all, but after a day to take everything in and sort it out, the episode turns out “better than average”.

To be honest, though, that’s remarkably good considering how some of the other episodes have been this season.

The Crusaders getting their marks: Wonderful! Much liquid pride was shed.

Diamond Tiara’s “redemption”: Utter bullshit! It’s as if they didn’t even try to make it believable in any way.

Pretty soft for a Sony.
@Goobington
This was the first pony episode that I actually watched several times during the weekend it aired.
The first time I watched I was getting ready to head home from work and was so stupefied by what happened, because I didn’t see any of the spoilers to clue me in for what I was in store for, so Sunday I had to watch it over again several times to bring it all in.
