Nah, the xontext is different. Spike is just a child than hang around with Twilight. Not really a legit companion. To slow to race with Dash. Too ignorant to talk about fashion. Too serious to mess with Pinkie. Too attached to Twilight to spend time with AppleJack and have nothing in common with Fluttershy. His popularity with mane6 is just a meme like Big Mac having all the mares just because they are in the background next to him.

only difference is that it’s usually the mares who get Spike first before he does
The problem is that Spike and others only get them in fanfiction. Discord is the only one so close to mane6 out of every adult characters in canon.
