I was 12 at the time, i had just moved to France and was living in Paris banlieue. It’s crazy how life goes, one day you are playing with your friends after class with the innocence you have at this age then the next soldiers are patrolling the streets while the country tear itself apart looking for someone to blame and you are afraid that some day everything you held dear will disappear in the blink of an eye.
I think most peoples understate the impact that the 2015-2016 mass terrorism era had in France. It darkened peoples hearts and filled them with paranoïa and distrust. A lot of peoples say we should never forget, but what is the point ? there is nothing to learn from this, it was just senseless violence for the sake of it. There is no point in chasing ghosts.

La musique a parfois des accords majeurs
Qui font rire les enfants mais pas les dictateurs.
De n’importe quel pays, de n’importe quelle couleur.
La musique est un cri qui vient de l’intérieur.

Music have sometimes some major harmonies
That make childs laugh but not the dictators
From any country,any colour
Music is a scream that came from the inside

No, not really. The United States has a Godless Constitution. The only time that religion shows up in it is when it talks about the separation of church and state. This wasn’t just written by people like me (secularists and agnostics), it was also strongly suggested bty many devout men in Congress at that epock. They all more or less agreed that religion shouldn’t be allowed to corrupt government, and that government shouldn’t be allowed to corrupt religion.

To this extent, if you want to practice a faith in the United States you have to do so as a volunteer. The State can’t make you go to church, but it can’t make you stay home either. The whole notion that the United States is a Christian country came about in the 1950s, especially after the words “ under God” were forced into the Pledge of Alligence in 1954, when a certain senator told a certain president that it could be uttered by someone in the Soviet Union just as easily as it could by someone in the United States.

I’m a stickler for minute details, but the ruling Syrian Ba’ath Party founded by Michel Aflaq is many things… secular is not one of them. Aflaq was a Christian, and the other key founding member Salah Al-Din Al-Bitar, as well as influential (though non-member) Zaki Al-Arsuzi were both Muslims. Al-Bitar a Suuni, and Al-Arsuzi an Alawite Shi’a. The party has been aligned with the Alawite minority basically since Hafez Al-Assad took over in 1970, this mantle later being taken up by his son Bashar Al-Assad.

Originally the Syrian Ba’ath party was intended to be geared more towards a socialist-democratic system, but over the years, especially since the mid-eighties, it has mutated into what it is today…

Perhaps you meant “ sectarian”?
I need a name that wasn't taken

What?

Syria is a Secular Dictatorship and Iran is a Shiite Theocracy. Both are subhuman scum who must be exterminated according to hard-core Sunni Islamists like IS. Moreover, both Iran and the Syrian government are actively fighting Islamic State more than anyone else in the world except for the Kurds.

If anything, this attack could increase Western support for Syria and Iran, in an enemy-of-my-enemy style move.

Oh beat the drums slowly and play the fife lowly,
Play the sad march as you bear me along,
Lay me in the valley and lay the clay o’er me,
For I’m a young Frenchman, I have done no wrong.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

As a reporter Iv spent all day covering the tragedy, and the sight of the people singing the La Marseillaise together, in defiance of terror, truly proves that you can never break their spirit.

To the ones we lost, to those that lived and the ones that will keep the flame of liberty, equality and brotherhood alive, I say what my country once said to France after struggling together during The Great War, as is inscribed on the marble of the monument to the French people in Belgrade…

We love France, as it loved us
