Mm, so, yeah, like I’ve been saying, were WoL, Cecil, or Tina and their respective installments better known, there’d be more incentive to include a Final Fantasy representative from an installment in the franchise that isn’t Final Fantasy Motherfucking VII. Hence the decision to do a Fire Emblem on the entire FFVII cast, hurr.

Although, Bizarro Psaro’s inclusion does appear to give Sora the perfect excuse to reprogram Advent Children Cloud with the Omnislash V, which I welcome. XD

Now, this should be thought of differently than the Dragon Quest thing. As has been illustrated numerous times, Dragon Quest only has a significant presence in Japan, while FFVII in particular has worldwide appeal, making the number two of the overall Final Fantasy series somewhat obvious. By drawing from four Dragon Quest installments (not counting the seven in the Final Smash, lol) as opposed to Final Fantasy’s one solitary one, Dragon Quest gained the opportunity to appeal to multiple niche audiences outside of Japan; III’s older base, IV’s seventh generation market of the mid-late ‘00s (to be honest, I’ve not seen the comparison figures for the NES, PS1, and DS versions, apologies), VIII’s broad western reach, and XI due to its recent-ness. :3

Nevertheless, I still really like WoL’s design. >w<

Mentioned this on another site: Had the 2D era more presence; plus, if II, III, and V had been ported to the NES or SNES; I’d feel Onion Knight or Unnamed would have been the prime candidate. For the SNES series, though, I’d choose Cecil.

At the least, Cecil and Tina’s abilities are the most definable in I-VI, and most suited for transition.

However, the obvious problem as aforementioned above is exposure. As far more interesting and colourful as the I-VI heroes were, Cloud and to a degree Squall have more of it.

Also, I really fucking like WoL’s design, but because his moves had to be completely made up for DFF, Smash would be no different. :P

I feel I should also mention Nintendo considered Sony Pictures to produce a CGI Mario movie, and that the President of Sony owns two Wuus. X3

That is ultimately why FFVII was the obvious choice. FFVII is definitely overrated because anything with FFVII or Cloud involved sells about as well as the original FFVII. An embarrassing fuck-ton. X3

In case y’all don’t see it, I’ll say it: Crossovers, tie-ins, and cameos, Smash Bros., Kingdom Hearts, the LEGO game series, PXZ, JoJo ASB and EoH, other anime games by Bandai Namco, et cetera, are designed and created with multiple reasons and motivations. However, whether or not intentional, their purpose is to be simply advertisements of their respective source material. These games are fun, mind. :T

Which reminds me, I should sort of eventually watch Harry Potter 7-2 because I’m not going to fully understand the LEGO version. lol

@CronoM
I read that manga. They fight some guy’s brother after he equipped a Demon’s… Shit, I forgot the name of the recurring cursed sword. Plus, Skeleton Baramos.

Oh, and the DQVII manga. They made the chick on the first island who became a Demon-at-Arms more humanized than she was in the game.

She probably wasn’t a Demon-at-Arms. I think that monster first appeared in VIII. lol

Oh, but I still wouldn’t be surprised if SEX gave them the rights for DQ Mii costumes. Unless you think they’ll just give them the rights to more FF costumes. :T

I wouldn’t be TOO sure Dragon quest has gone forgotten in the multi-franchising industry…
This may interest you, cause if I recall, a dragon quest character was actually partially programmed for ‘J-Stars Victory Vs’, a game exclusively about anime and manga characters, which was the weirdest thing.

In fact the character practically WAS Erdrick, from an anime back in 1991.

Apparently, 2 animes were based on Erdrick’s adventures from Dragon Quest III: ‘Dragon Quest’ the anime from 1990, where the hero, Abel, was far different from Erdrick but the villain, Baramos, was the same, and Dragon Quest: Dai no Daiboken from 1991, where the villain is different but the main character, named Dai, was most decidedly Erdrick.

Either way, the recent Direct says the third Smash Direct in December will accompany the fifth and last Smash DLC Wave. Although, it’s possible Cloud will have company, including more stages.

If it was still culturally relevant, I’d have liked a Contra character. However, the last Contra game was on the DS several years ago, and the current generation all have ADD. lol

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Rainbow Dash confirmed for Smash.

You know at this point, who knows?

But seriously, I’m really hoping for a Dragon Quest character like Erdrick/DQ Hero. They could even be sorta like a cross between Robin and Bowser Jr. where there other costumes are other DQ Main Heroes. Here’s hoping.

The player from DQIII. The ancestor of the player from DQI. The unofficial timeline suggested by minor information is DQIII -> DQI -> DQII -> DQVI -> DQIV -> DQV.

Two things suggest DQVI is set after DQII, linking the Erdrick and Zenithia trilogy. Rubiss is hidden in DQVI and she suggests that Murdaw’s castle was previously occupied by Zoma, Dragon Lord, and Malroth before Murdaw.

I don’t remember where you fight Mortamor. lol

Ask a random dude on the street to say the first word that comes to mind when you say Capcom, and he’ll say “Mega Man” or “Street Fighter”. Ask him what comes to mind when you say Square-Enix or Final Fantasy. The quality of the characters and systems of the first six are the best of the series, but the seventh grabbed more eyes and pole-vaulted the PS1. Mario 64 did the the same for the 64. Both for one reason. Don’t need to reiterate that reason. ;3

If Japan was the only market for games, Square-Enix would’ve given Nintendo/HAL/Sora/Bandai-Namco the rights for Erdrick. They are not. The world would be more receptive to Cloud.

I referenced Dragon Quest because that’s where my avatar is from… I suppose that’s the extent of my comment. lol
