I think as far as ww2, the Germans didn’t shoot at medics, so she could very well be a neutral medic. Even today there’s plenty of cases of U.S. Corpsmen attending to the injuries of enemy combatants. Unfortunately, though, our combatants these days don’t seem to hold medics in quite the same regards, afaik.
But it’s very possible that the Crystal War could have “don’t fire on medics” conventions. Or stab, as the case may be :q

Lifeline was a veterianian working in Canterloot when she realized that she could put her medical skills to good use in the Crystalling War. For she has sworn to dedicate her life to take care of defenseless cute creatures, and a Pony is indeed a cute creature, just more stient than your average woodland animal. Thus, she learned everything there is to know about Pony medicine and emlisted in the Crystal Empire Army as a corpspony.

Their outfits, the tech level of the factory, the sort of feel of everything in the crystal war timeline makes me think of it an awful lot.

It’s the same sort of humor as Barney being a man-eating dinosaur. Corrupting cute, adorable things, or turning them ultra-masculine as irony. Typically something like this is going along that kind of humor - GI Joe (soldiers) and ponies.

I think that’s some kind of tool or something - it looks like it’s set in a pocket sort of strap of material. I really don’t know what it is, though.
Poor Flutters, if she is. I suppose this is GI Joe universe, though, so nopony really dies, but real war is just horrible - Flutters may be sweet and innocent, but as a factory worker she’s a bombing target to her enemies, in which case she’d get bombed by the good guys.

I see these gi joe crossover images as interesting rather than funny. Where did you get “funny” from?
It’s terrible to have your life taken up by duties to the country, but it’s also wonderful to be a part of something bigger than yourself. It’s a funny dichotomy. I think that’s how some veterans say that their time in the military was both worse than hell, yet priceless.

…She’s not a GI, though. She’s like… A factory worker of some kind… Not the one with a rifle, but just as much a part of the war effort as one who builds them. And then ducks to the bomb shelters when the sirens go off indicating a bombing raid.
It’s sad she had to cut her mane and tail like that, but it looks cute, if it’s any consolation to her. Poor, tired thing…
