It’s ok it has been a pleasure talking with you and don’t worry for the grammar I don’t mind (and I wasn’t pointing at it I just putted parts of what you said so you could understand what I was talking about) I’m not English either x) (well half English buts that’s a long story)

“So you mean, you wanted to make all the software code not a part of patents”
That would indeed be lovely but a lot of people can abuse a system like this because that would mean that there isn’t any law that can help users that are being abused

There is already a license that exist for this purpose it’s the GPL license there are 4 simple rules:

-you can run/use/execute the program as you wish, for any purpose
-you can study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish
-you can redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor
-distribute copies of your modified versions to others. By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this
the only restriction of this license is that you cannot impose rules on other users it’s a recursive restriction that protects users from other users from bad intention

I suggest that you read this if you want to know more about the gpl license:
https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html
their are multiple translations (since I don’t know your language) if you look a top of the web page.

“make our progress in computer technology much faster, also for repairing or put something that make our phone much useful”
you have no idea how it would be, Reverse engineering wouldn’t be necessary (it’s actually necessary for example graphic cards like nvidia and amd they don’t even give manuals to make software on their hardware)
any printer could work on any system with 100% functionality and this kind of very bad function would cease to exist:
https://www.eff.org/issues/printers
https://www.eff.org/pages/list-printers-which-do-or-do-not-display-tracking-dots
(even industrial printers (half a million prints in 1hour) have began to have these functions, my brother works in a journal and the new models obligatory ask a Internet connection or it does not to print)
Modem, routers, wifi, electronics you name it all of these would be free of any kind of bad functions.

“also greedy company use it for their own advantage, i mean what the fuck i can repair or add something that would make my phone useful, and the funny thing is DMCA doesn’t exist in 80s.”
indeed I cannot agree more

thanks for the link I already participated to it with the eff ;)

So you mean, you wanted to make all the software code not a part of patents, well the would be good idea, and make our progress in computer technology much faster, also for repairing or put something that make our phone much useful and it is against the DMCA, http://www.fixthedmca.org/ like i say before Broken law, and need to be fix, also greedy company use it for their own advantage, i mean what the fuck i can repair or add something that would make my phone useful, and the funny thing is DMCA doesn’t exist in 80s.

“well, sometimes you have to sacrifice something for the convenient”
It’s funny I think the other way ^^
for me it would be something like this “well, sometimes you have to sacrifice convenience for freedom/fair use”
I can understand that a company like lets say hasbro defend their product, they have employed/paid people and they legally have control over it.

And it’s normal but even then there is the fair use agreement that they have to respect and even Hasbro don’t respect them sometimes, but it looks like they aren’t extremely aggressive because derpibooru would have been shut down if it was the case.
https://w2.eff.org/IP/eff_fair_use_faq.php
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVqFAMOtwaI
Also most of compagny/corporation push laws that aren’t user friendly for example the tpp
https://www.eff.org/issues/tpp
or the copyright lifetime extension, for example: music made by glen miller in the 40s aren’t in the public domain

But with software/hardware electronics is very different, when a toy/cartoon company makes a product it’s less problematic than software because you don’t have the same use, when you buy a t-shirt a mug, a plastic toy or a stuffed toy there isn’t any real restriction with what you can do with it.

I must explain something a bit boring for the non initiated of the computer world you see in the 80s all existing softwares were not closed, anyone could take the code then make read it adapt it to their needs and redistribute it, these were the most active years of computer developing/innovation and it was killed approximately in 84/85.
why ?
Because companies like xerox, ibm and others began to close their software.

The use that I have for a pc is not only for entertainment it’s my work.
I repair/diagnostic hardware and create/repair software.
I and all the IT worl touches almost all the spectrum of existing works, medical, animation, automation, Tribology, agriculture etc…

The thing is that hardware/software is unusable when you don’t have the required skills or when you don’t have the sources legally and that means that you are dependent on the creators of the said hardware/software manufacturer.
In computers if you don’t have the freedom to share you cannot care about others.
How can you create something new when you can’t control your tools or when your tools are being limited.

The bottom of what I’m saying is that software with a closed license gives to much control on users
When google refuse to put a software in their playstore it’s not because it’s a malware (because there are shit tons of bad software in the google store) it’s because it’s against their interests for example there is a replacement for the google play store witch is f-droid, f-droid gives devs the possibility to add a free/libre software in the repository and for users the availability to use free/libre software but you can’t install it by simple ways because google refuse to add it to there own repository (google playstore).

Why ?(I’m repeating myself no ? X) because google/samsung does not let users have control over what they have purchased.
Is this really protecting the intellectual Properties for the company ?
no it isn’t these are just imposed restraints.

If you have websites like derpibooru and lots of other imageboards and all of the internet in general it’s because the software used is under a free/libre or copyleft license, html, php, GCC and more.
I suggest that you read the book The Cathedral and the Bazaar to better understand what I’m talking about

well, sometimes you have to sacrifice something for the convenient, but i am not really that care if wanted to know what i am do on my device, all i do is just browsing through the internet to search for the documentaries, Ponies, YouTube , gaming and other thing, also most of the time is just about Digital Rights Management to protect the the intellectual Properties for the company, so the company can reserve their Profit, and the thing they probably do it because they try to obey the laws, and sometime we should not blame on them, we should blame the laws, why the government make it so much complex and some of them are broken, what worse is that they introduce a new law to fix the broken laws, instead of fixing directly the broken laws.

Plus why it’s take so much time for the CIA to recover and know what’s on the suspect device, i think even if the tool are there (the backdoor) it still need to put it into the right place before it can gain any access to the device, so still need a lot time.

@CyanLightning
reading your response I can say that you haven’t read the link :(
From my experience with security you cannot trust something that you can not audit yourself, don’t put your faith on companies like apple who have closed censored software and more, the show that you saw between apple and the cia made me laugh, it is well known in the iT world that backdoors were already implemented long time ago basically all the x86 architecture isn’t safe

And that’s the reason sometime I like to read the EULA or ToS, as i know that google encrypted their searches from praying eye like NSA, while i don’t know that for sure but at least that give a little more to trust google, but for most of time it just for the merely to prevent the user to reverse engineering the software, cracking it , add another featured, install another apps that aren’t come from their store, so they can reverse some company fortune.

Also judging by how Apple refuse to give access to CIA about that Phone from suspect of California mass shooting, i think i can trust them, but still i still keep an eyes for them, plus the EULA and ToS is the most unenforceable Laws.
softland

@CyanLightning
Indeed but it can be easily bypassed by having for example people accepting the “terms contract and license” witch nobody reads or really few people does and you are obligated to accept these terms because otherwise you can’t use the phone that you now legally own until you or someone else make software that doesn’t ask you to abandon simple consumer/user rights, the users should have the power of using it not the manufactures/sellers/developers

What is incredible is that all of this is extremely flagrant and lots of people prefer to call people like me a tinfoil head nutjob and it’s unfortunate because I just want a fair use of hardware/software witch isn’t actually the case

Just ask you a question when you use a software under a non-free license that you didn’t pay that is gratis how is it financed ? you are the product

If you want more of the extremely flagrant go here:

@SuppliedRelic
Tanks for the suggestion (it’s very kind of you) but I have already found a solution for that I installed Replicant
I understand that google isn’t the only responsible but the company is greatly involved as samsung
It is very unfortunate that samsung, google and others violate/bypass consumer rights
But you should ask yourself is it normal that you can’t uninstall softwares in the operating system via normal/simple methods ? (I’m not saying all of the existing softwares can not be uninstalled)
Is it normal that you have to change hardware to update software ?
Every generation of phone is less and less reparable
People can not even change the batteries without disassembling the whole hardware.
I can’t even do some low level dev on those because of the closed firmwares and if I wanted to do so I would need to reverse Engineer them witch takes a very very very long time.
I complain but I still use it :p

Google is not completely to blame for older android devices being neglected by manufacturers. If you want to have the latest updates rolled out to your device in a timely fashion, invest in a Google Nexus.

Yea google is a kind of friend, useful, always there to give you the right answers the kind of friend that you can trust with your everyday life, that will simplify it so that you can relax and have a wonderful day, yeap google is that kind of friend. that will sell your privacy for money, who promotes the use non-libre software, who doesn’t give a buck about the updates on old android phones so that in the end if you want the illusion of having a secure phone you need the latest galaxy
