well because he is a main character and since we use ‘mane’ in its place as a sort of inside pun. which is why he gets to be the reason the ‘mane 7’ tag exists at all. if the person who coined that pun in the first place didn’t, we would use main (insert number here) instead.

will still only apply if spike is present. if starlight does get solidified as a mane by s6 that will gives us the mane 8(tag by extension). which will mean we will also need a ‘mane 8 minus spike’ tag if spike gets left out when the rest are present.
