I started off just poking a little fun at how so much needless drama has been caused over starlight and flurry heart being an alicorn. It’s all silly and, as I pointed out, eventually the shitstorm will completely die down, and starlight’s popularity will skyrocket  
just like season 3

I personally enjoying how season six is panning out myself. It’s not over, and I have a hunch a twily episode is on the horizon  
I think it’s unfair to pass judgment on starlight as a character, she hasn’t had much screen-time and they haven’t really fleshed out her personality just yet. now keep in mind that the only reason starlight || wasn’t horribly abused/molested by her drunken parents|| is because they needed to keep her backstory appropriate for the shows “target” audience. so I don’t believe judging her by her underwhelming backstory is fair

I don’t think the show is ruined it will probably get more seasons and maybe they will get better, I have no real opinion on flurry as it’s just a baby and has only shown up once, I was fine with alicorn Twi for awhile but now I feel she is boring and just sits idle while everyone else does stuff. Starlight yeah no, no matter how much I try I won’t like her there is just too many things wrong with her, season 6 has been the only season I haven’t cared for.
 
If others love it and her that’s fine I’m not going to get bent out of shape over it I can see why people could like her and being a pill about other peoples opinions accomplishes nothing, I don’t have to agree with them but I can try to understand it. I’m not going to treat them like idiots with comments like “she reformed two fazt ugh show is ruined” and act superior because I have a different opinion.

nobody will care anymore and the show will be largely the same with maybe some minor changes, flurry will be the consensus as cutest pony, people will pretend they never hated her, and glimmer will be everyone’s “1# waifu”

Note: You can’t call a character a Mary Sue without knowing its actual personality first. Judging by design is not a good idea. Heck, everyone would call Rainbow Dash one if she didn’t have one yet!

It simply hurts my eyes TBQH. People are calling this an “OC” because the design is exaggerated to the point it is very busy and because it seems intended to scream “BEHOLD THE ALICORN BEHBEH”. Some artists tried their hand at tweaking the design, and even mild shrinkage looks so much better. Other show elements are just overdesigned, too, and it makes me wonder what’s going on with the art direction.
 
I realize people think there will be interesting reasons for this, but past experience and contemporary fandom preferences inform me the likely justification for this will be because she has naturally advanced development or maturity for her age by virtue of being an alicorn. The pony behbehs’ “magic spurts” might be used to justify this (maybe even sprouting intermittently into the mature size), despite infant pegasi not having massive “regal” wings, nor infant unicorns sporting mature horns.
 
Obviously, even this is blind speculation. I just hope the show’s proclivity toward canon sues tapers out rather than entering a new level next season.

No, you’re actually right. It’s called epigenetics, external factors that are inherited from the parents that effects the zygote but are not part of the genome itself.
 
Spiritus Arcana’s mentioning of the presence of the Crystal Heart as a possible factor is terrifyingly apt; in the real world exposure to radiation results in the same sort of mutations in newborns.

Well, uh, this is it…  
I think that when a pony ascends into alicornhood, the wings/horn becomes a part of their genetic makeup. So, when the baby is being made, it uses Cadance’s mutated Pegasus gene (Which would now be an alicorn gene), but, since it’s mutated, it would mess up her wings a bit as well, explaining their massive size.  
There are probably lots of things wrong with this, so if you know more about this than me, please do point out the flaws in this.
