I’d say just for toys. Sometimes the toy canon is different from the show’s. (Which makes all the complaints from ex-bronies over the show “being a toy commercial” ironic.) Though, it’s likely she’ll replace Skyla in the toy line, to stay consistent with the show.
I think Skyla was a joke used to distract everyone from the Twilicorn thing. Either that, or it was just to market toys.
