Could be Courage, I guess; Hard to make new friends and keep them if you’re too afraid to even open your mouth for the first time.
Day: Celestia, Sunset Shimmer (2)
Night: Luna, Twilight, Starlight Glimmer (3)
Cadance and Flurry Heart, you two are on your own.
Yeah, Helping Twilight Win The Crown song saves the movie for me.
@crystalflutter
Well, it took too long for me to get back to this thread, and it looks like another BP pretty much gave the answer I would have given, and the response filled in the blanks I would have filled in. Yeah, the first EG movie was flawed; I thought it was OK, though I’d rank it among the weakest episodes of the series. Still, there was enough about it that was good, even really good, that I can understand how others love it.
I can agree that it was crappy writing, but I still need to give credit where the credit is due. Like I said, the elements have never shown to have the power to brainwash people into being good. What Meghan McCarthy wanted us to believe was that Sunset thought that the only way to achieve the greatest power was through dark magic but after witnessing what Twilight and her friends could do with the magic of friendship, she realized the error in her ways. Thus she seeked forgiveness. That was the intent of the writer, however badly portrayed it may be.
Considering she was planning on conquering Equestria even before she turned into a demon, YES! It was the element’s doing!
Plus the crappy writing…it was a mixture of both really.
So are you saying it was the elements’ doing after all or that the writing in that movie was not so good?
If it’s deserved, it’s not forgiveness. Redemption would be a better word in that case, I’d say.
@crystalflutter
But before she was a demon, she was still scheming to use the Element of Magic in order to enslave an army for herself and conquer Equestria.
Umm, actually it wasn’t the elements, it was Sunset herself. The elements just got rid of the demon form. Same with Luna, they just destroyed the Nightmare Moon. That’s it. Was it the elements that made Discord good? I don’t think so.
But you don’t need to have a reason like that to like Starlight more. I like both characters but Starlight is my favourite. Because I like her design and voice more, I like that she’s more powerful than Twilight, I like that she can fly by levitating herself and I liked both of her plans in the premiere and in the final. That’s it. I don’t care if Sunset’s “characterization” is better, she can never be as cool as Starlight. That’s my opinion. No argument is gonna change that and neither should it change yours. Maybe you like one of them more because she HAS a better characterization; That’s great! Keep that opinion!
Oh yeah? SUNSET BECAME A DEVIL CREATURE AND BRAINWASHED PEOPLE!
And she didn’t even stop being a villain on her own, THE ELEMENTS OF HARMONY MADE HER THAT WAY!
How the hell is THAT forgivable!?
So yeah, sorry, I’m gonna give poor Starlight a chance!
It’s like Rarity becoming an Element of Generosity by being generous to herself. That’s just cheap.
@Background Pony #351D
Wait, but in the first movie Sunset did even less to deserve her forgiveness. She didn’t even had to stop and rethink her evil ways, she was magically transformed to the good!
Oops.
and don’t start with things like “Love and Tolerance” or “It’s just a show” comments. It’s not drama, just my own opinion. You can accept it or not:-)
She forgave herself in the second movie. In the third one she helped Sci-Twi forgive herself her actions. Not a coincidence I’m sure.
Why Forgiveness? I don’t remember her being famous for forgiving someone. At least, in the movies.
It’s Josh Haber.
Perhaps. Though it is my understanding that the general consensus is Forgiveness.
Harmony? The flames on the sun might represent the rays of harmony?
I concur. Sunset has a more prominent backstory, and three movies’ worth of character development (naturally, with more on the way), whereas Josh Faber attempted to do a one-man, two-episode job of thrusting her into the spotlight. Honestly, she’s more valuable to me as a villain than as a hero.
If there shall be a Seventh Element of Harmony, let Sunset Shimmer represent it. (Whatever that Element is, though, I’ll leave for you to decide.)
Although it’s wouldn’t be like here. Except Twilight, non of the mane six know Sunset Shimmer. Only the parallel six know Sunset
i agree, instead we got starlight bitch, that hates twilight more then anyone.
sunset shimmers is a much better character.
