The show may appeal to multiple demographics, but up until now the first-party toys have been squarely aimed at the core demographic.

The show itself has had more actiony stuff than any of that (Tirek’s DBZ battle with Twilight comes to mind, as does the mane cast kicking the crap out of changelings), so that’s hardly going to be an issue.
These toys are meant for boys and girls who like action-themed toys. They’re not exclusively in the G.I. Joe aisle, nor exclusively in the Barbie aisle. Appealing to multiple demographics is kinda what G4 has always been about. You must be very, very new here.

and its also okay for rainbow dash and tank
but look at the expressions of princess celestia and princess luna.
it makes the ponies seem more like for 12 year olds then for little girls.

Yes, a Transformers staff lady who always wanted Hasbro toys to be for both boys and girls is heading the project and IDW will make a (sold separately) comic series about it
