It’s amazing what you can do with two six sections of wall, a coffee table and an espresso machine.
Heh. You should see how I played Black & White back in the day. I made the OT Yahweh look like Fluttershy.
I won’t deny that Alcubierre drives are awesome. I hope we end up figuring out how to build one because it would be an amazing achievement. I think if we master dark energy and quantum gravity, we could do it. I guess I’m worried that this whole thing may not even be possible.
And, yeah, Orion drives will get you .1c at best
True, but it’s still extremely difficult to go insterstellar long distances with it, and you’re still limited by the speed of light from Earth’s reference frame.
Spacetime warping is actually gravity, and that theory of it is not only extremely solid, but just got even more extremely solid this last week, actually, with LIGO detecting gravity waves. To say it’s proven might be an understatement.
The thing that’s not proven is various requirements for the Alcubierre drive to work, but that gets into some very complex and involved technical discussion…
One of the biggest arguments against its possibility is the violation of what’s called “energy conditions” in general relativity. What I find kinda funny about that, though, is I think the empirically observed expansion of the universe is actually a violation of one of the energy conditions.
There’s also some recent work on some quantum inequality restrictions, but I don’t find those much an issue since they already fail at the casimir cavities, so I can hardly see how they can be used as a predictive tool.
And who knows - with the EmDrive it might just be already invented :q Bit of a longshot, but an interesting thing nonetheless.
You don’t know the awesomeness of the Orion drive? Spacetime warping is still only theory, but we can build an Orion starship right now.
First you need to know what you’re doing.
At least what you want to be doing.
Nobody ever really knows what they’re doing :p
But, don’t ch’ya need Plutonium to drive the Flux Capacitor?
Eh. Nukes are boring. Warping spacetime is where it’s at.
Actually that’s probably a lot more simpler then you’d likely think..

And, Part 2
Huh…
No, you got a point.
…Maybe researching how to make plutonium out of off-the-shelf components isn’t such a good idea…
|| kidding, of course. I’m too busy working on a warp drive to do that||
@Antonyourknee
Lol, that’s the kind of thing I was going after.
You can like her if you want but dont get any tattoos or she’ll come after you with cheese grater.
Palpatine was so evil he probably spent the entire storm trooper retirement fund on that bottomless pitt in his throneroom.
His reign began with a brutal civil war that killed billions and ended with a brutal civil
war that killed billions. I don’t think the Galaxy is in better shape than it was before. Plus, you could chalk up a good chunk of the New Republic’s weakness to the fact that the Galaxy is still recovering from two Civil Wars within a generation or so of each other, not to mention the fact Palpatine left the Galaxy with no functioning institutions except for himself and the Imperial military. It’s hard to build a stable government when you have nothing to build off of, you know.
So… shes sexy and powerful. I like her even more now.
Hopefully this relationship will be made more clear when Bloodlines hits the shelves.
As to the First Order… Well sans Snoak my guess is its being lead by one of the few remaining Grand Moff’s.* (a.k.a. Palpatine’s muscle).
*p.s. in the old canon at least there were 12 Grand Moff’s in the SW Galaxy. So she’s Grand Moff Glimer… And not some Tarkin pony.
In Episode I, it was established that Palpatine deliberately tried to keep the senate in rigormortis (“In the senate, I will see to it that things stay as they are…”) so he could seize the chancellorship from Valorum. While the Republic was not doing terribly well by the time of Episode I, Palpatine’s actions certainly didn’t do it any favors. Plus, Palapatine only brought “stability” to the galaxy after starting a war that killed billions of lifeforms and did untold damage to the Galactic economy. Like I said, Palpatine was an arsonist posing as a fireman.
Ends… Means = Justification Blah blah…
The problem with your view of things implies that the Old Republic was doing fine, and would have continued on as it was. With the Jedi only mostly concerned with the inner core worlds. Leaving those on the outter rim to fend for themselves.
And, I never said Palpatine was the anti-hero here. I just said that in his world he was the good guy. Who tryed to bring back some kind of order to a form of Government that got to big for itself to be of any further use. Or did you sleep though that part of Ep I?
Yeah Politics are soo boring.

I take it you enjoy tormenting your Sims?
I direct you to my comments about Palpatine starting the Clone Wars in order to seize power.
