Twilight took a step back as the sketch’s mouth curled into a huge grin, it’s pencil lines tracking effortlessly up the lined paper surface beneath and following the undamaged side of the thing’s face. Princess Celestia had warned her about how dangerous sketches really were but she hadn’t listened, only now realizing just how right the princess was. She had put everything she had into an attack and hit it at point blank range. It didn’t even bother to dodge or defend itself, and she only succeeded in punching a few holes in it’s disguise.
 
Worse, she thought. She had succeeded in giving it a good laugh.
 
It held up it’s damaged hoof and waggled it tauntingly as it locked eyes with her, laughing in a deranged facsimile of her own voice. “You were saying?!” it laughed, “Not bad for a ‘bargain bin knockoff by some hack who didn’t even remember the wings’, eh?!”
 
Twilight steeled herself, refusing to give it the satisfaction of knowing she was scared. “You’re still just a cheap sketch. That’s all you ever will be. No match for the one and only original.”
 
The sketch laughed even harder, almost falling into hysterics. “What makes you think you’re the original?! Maybe I am, or maybe neither of us are! Maybe you’re whole life is a lie! Maybe you’re just the dolled up facsimile of some sketch! How would you ever know?!”
 
Twilight frowned, hoping she could at least hold her own until help arrived. This thing was dangerously insane and she had to do something about it fast, before it hurt somepony. It honestly thought it was possible that she wasn’t the original Twilight Sparkle and that one of these abominable sketches was.
 
There’s no telling what crazy things it might do, thinking such a ridiculous thing was possible.
