I really wonder why he never does this when he’s riding on Twilight’s back while they’re being chased by bad guys. Like when they were running from the Changelings on that alternate reality where they met Zecora. Twilight keeps running, Spike shoots them down one by one (or all at once if he really tries, like in Equestria Games).
 
Its easy to remember that its only because the show actively tries to avoid these scenarios that Spike doesn’t actually shine more in action scenes. He’s got all the natural weapons to be a real threat despite his size.
