Yeah, it existed before that. Funny thing about it is, each CMC has a power opposite of their pony species. Scootaloo is apparently got plant/earth based powers like an earth pony, Sweetie can fly, (on a cloud) and Bloom uses magic like a unicorn.

Pretty much. As I understand it, someone started commissioning art where the CMC were magical girls. I don’t remember a story ever being mentioned, but then I guess I wasn’t really looking…

That was certainly a big part of it, but the concept existed before that. For instance >>688890 was made the year prior to the one in which that promo came out.

I still don’t understand what “Apple Bloomers” is, (is it some kinda “magical anime superhero girl” fanfic story series, or something?) but she still looks cool.
