I know the reference but it’s just not funny to me. Mostly because Starlight would have no direct control over the future so Spike scolding her is just stupid.

Depending on your headcanons about the time travel magic, Starlight Glimmer may have been staying in the past and in effect ‘lived out’ time to whenever Twilight Sparkle returns to the present, but she doesn’t remember any of it when Twilight returns to the past and restarts the Cloudsdale sequence.
 
So maybe Starlight finally decided to orchestrate the quesadilla timeline to traumatise Twilight enough to make her quit.
