I didn’t call him, ‘not a professional writer’, I called him an ‘amateur’, which he officially is with only two or so episodes under his belt.
If your going to be ultra defensive about a guy that wrote two or so episodes of shows prior and turned the episode where Dash becomes a Wonderbolt into a badly written punchline episode that a large part of the fans dislike, at the very least try to understand basic definitions. Otherwise it comes across as just more desperate defensiveness. One doesn’t need to be a fanfic writer to recognize a crappy script and imagine a thousand better ideas then what was given.

Sorry that your fanfic werent taken seriously by DHX,dude.Despite what you think,the “amateur” David Rapp have (as far as we know because IMDB is far from being a comprehensive/reliable source) written at least 2 episodes of TV shows,in other words,he’s a professional in the sense that his work was judged by external sources and peers (as in:not fanfic writers or fandoms or Internet mouthbreathers) as being good enough to be produced and put on TV.

Because they convinced other people and an audience that is not limited to their relatives and/or a dozen of people that their works were worthy of attention and/or dough through hard work.Meanwhile the amateur stay in bitter obscurity and keep pretending his fanfictions are better than the original product.

I’ll hold on a bit longer, though, on the last few points, since they’ve only got 50/100 ratings, and somewhat consistently, the less ratings the lower the score, so it would seem it’s likely that the ratings will improve with time as more rate them.
We’ve seen worse droughts, though. S02E06, 07, and 08 were a worse streak. So if you’re going to jump ship over this, then you would’ve jumped ship back in S2 early on, as well.
But for the already-quitters, it’s worth noting that Season 5 is the highest rated on reddit.
It’d be interesting to see how reddit scorings would compare to IMDB’s.
Dude, fans have been leaving the show foreverz sense Season 2, it’s nothing new, and doesn’t prove Season 6 is the worst season ever. If that’s the case, then all those other seasons you said you liked are “terrible too.” I see many who still like the show, and considering this site gets hundreds of new images each day, and of every new ep’, I’m pretty sure there will still be fans when/if Season 7 airs.
Only other thing I’ll touch on is, that attitude that only “professionals” should work in the entertainment industry kinda bugs me. Especially, considering every professional starts out as an amateur some time in their career. Y’know, Ian Flynn writer for the official MegaMan, and Sonic the Hedgehog comics had no prior professional writing gigs on any other comic book series, prior to starting working on Sonic in 2006 yet many fans agree he’s a much better writer for Sonic & stuff then the “professionals” who came before him.
Imagine Charles Schulz’ “Peanuts” comics being turned down for “not being professional enough? Some amateurs actually turn out to be quite good.

Got to talking to some people who like the episode, and even they hate the fact that the writer for it was a inexperienced amateur. It goes without saying when Dash fans dread a Dash episode but then like the episode after without her. From all the discussions had across everywhere, it’s easy to tell that this episode because of having the incredibly bad writer write it, will always either have a hated, or meh general consensus. which goes to say a lot about S6 as a whole. Just more fans joining the new bandwagon now that is leaving the show. If we do make it to a S7, I wonder if anyone of us here will still be left. The writers obviously seem to care much less about us with both this episode existing and Glimmer. But in the end the only way to talk to Hasbro is through our wallets and not buying the toys
Think action will only be taken if their toy sales drop, as that is all they care about tbh

I have a crack headcanon that they don’t exist offscreen, and they live in a simulation like the Matrix, except instead of being a live simulation it’s vectors that are moving along predefined motions with pre-made sound recordings for their voices and all the sounds.
Thus nothing exists but what is directly shown on-screen :p

Actually, some like BG have put up good reasons why they aren’t bothered by the episode, and why they felt Dashie wasn’t OOC, and such, but you, and Crono are just hand-waving ‘em. That bit about their opinions just being “headcanons” and interpretation could apply to you, and Crono’s arguments, as their mostly your own opinion, and your own personal interpretation of the ep’, as well. Not absolute “fact.”
The main reason I haven’t discussed it much is ‘cause I honestly am burnt out on debating it, I admit the ep’ was flawed, but I honestly still enjoyed it, but oh well. People have a right to like or dislike the episode,

Again I say, I wish people would actually come up with real reasons and not their own headcannons when defending the episode. So much stuff is made up out of nothing in the defence of this episode. People just need to realise how many mistakes are in the actual episode and come to terms with it.

No offense, but you’re starting to come off a bit smart-allecky with remarks like that. As BG #CE19 said it’s making it difficult to be polite to you, or respect your opinions when you’re being kinda passive aggressive to those who disagree with you.
In any case, perhaps I explained that part poorly. I’m not trying to imply she has Maud Pie levels of stoicism or anything. Rainbow does emote quite frequently. The thing is, her emotional outbursts are often masking how she actually feels about something. This is why I say she hides her feelings, because Rainbow Dash has demonstrated consistently, since season one, that she is bad at sharing her emotional issues with others. She didn’t do it when she was nervous in “Sonic Rainboom”, she didn’t do it when she was being showed up by “The Mysterious Mare Do Well”, she didn’t do it when Tank needed to hibernate in “Tanks for the Memories”, and she didn’t do it here.

It’s funny. I’ve never been in the military. No one in my family is in any branch of the service. I am about as far removed from any sort of service position as it is possible to be. Yet even as removed as I was, I nevertheless was entirely aware that real life pilots, particularly the “best of the best” types, pick nicknames for each other based on screw ups and mishaps and the like. It astounds me to think that Rainbow Dash did not know about that in advance herself, but then I was also surprised when she revealed in “Testing Testing 1, 2, 3” that she had next to no knowledge about the group she wanted to join.
But that is not the point, I guess.
I’ll be honest, I’m tired of having this debate in every picture and thread relating to the episode. I simply do not agree with your opinion, and I feel the episode, along with Rainbow Dash’s history, supports my view. You clearly feel the same way about my opinion, and I doubt I will dissuade you from it.
Like the Spitfire line I quoted.
If you want an example of this dichotomy, this episode’s dialogue with Spitfire makes it most apparent.
Spitfire initially asked her team to forget about Dash’s accident, but when the nickname caught on, Spitfire started using it herself, only using Dash’s real name a few times before the show, and even enjoying and snickering while calling her that right before the show
(again, this might of been an interesting aspect they could of explored at the end of the episode if they showed both sides of the problem owning up)
Here’s a sobering aspect…this episode likely only exists because of the characterization of the Wonderbolts presented in Rainbow Falls.
Its almost as if being jeered at with a nickname that was a reminder of your failure could feel like they were judging her! /sacrasm

Did we or Rainbow Dash see the other Wonderbolts being treated the same way? Of course not. Heck, when Spitfire used Soarin’s old nickname as an example only to show Dash, it was the first time Dash had heard anybody use a nickname while there besides herself. Us being informed of nicknames they never use anymore doesn’t tell us anything about how their experience was in the past, especially since it doesn’t exist in the present.
In contrast to a far better episode, in Wonderbolts Academy, we see Rainbow Dash being given the shouting drill sergeant routine and the other recruits being given the exact same treatment and it not phasing Rainbow Dash cause they were actually being treated no differently then Dash and showing it
The yellow-haired wonderbolt was completely within earshot of one of her out-loud comments, and even responded to it mockingly. “Could’ve fooled me.”
And Rainbow Dash took her distaste directly to Spitfire when the jacket was revealed. Its not like Spitfire thought RD appreciated the nickname by her expressions.

One of the biggest flaws in your argument is that you’ve built up this illusion that the Wonderbolts weren’t massively responsible for this communication breakdown, and due to the unlikelihood of the Wonderbolts all being surprised and blissfully unaware of how unwelcome they were making Dash feel while talking to her face(seriously, can not one of them read 10-year-old level facial cues?), its a big mark on the inexperience of the writer.
The narrative of this episode never draws attention to the fault of the wonderbolts, so why should the audience?…There is no reason the audience should accept that reasoning.

But I did say I wouldn’t last a day in the military, either. It’s just… I mean this is very tame compared to that stuff. But despite that people keep making a huge deal out of it like it were extremely exceptional. On the contrary, how everypony came out in the end was extremely sweet and unusual for a military-esque group like the Wonderbolts, and kind of shows a contrast in Equestria to RL.
I mean, it’s like, IRL, I think maybe crying to a group like that would make it worse. But in Equestria, apparently if you show that it really affects you, they’re like, “woah, hold on a minute, we didn’t mean it like that…”
Why not have the end her becoming one and the bit before the lead up to it? That way you setup later episodes for her experiences as being one, like they did with the CMC?
(again I remember all the good writers are gone)

Sure I know some Dash fans will like it, but this is def the minority of Dash fans. You basically have to ignore all the mistakes that the episode did (or, well, be a child who enjoys things without analysing them) Since that’s our job to over analyse things xD
Just was hard to see Dash completely not act like herself. If she acted like herself, then the episode would be much more tolerable to a lot of people no matter the content.

or them respecting her from the start and not even doing this whole “sub plot made the entire plot” name calling thing that was put into her fricking WONDERBOLT episode just so at the end they can go “it’s all in good fun btw, it’s been an in-joke all this time, sorry that we didn’t use our nicknames or even say mine before telling you this as well, so suck it up Dash who cares what happened in your past or how emotionally scaring this has been”

The one thing I keep thinking is that people like this wouldn’t last a day in the military.
I mean, I wouldn’t, either, but at least I’m aware of it, and that in certain contexts this sort of thing isn’t such a big deal. Or rather, it can be a bit of a big deal to someone who’s a bit more sensitive like Dash, but that it’s very common.
Makes me think of that guy in Attack on Titan who joined the Military Police to try to reform it in the last few episodes.
