More likely, they never share their horde or buy each other things. Which is why long term relationships and friendships are a rare thing. They may just get together only when they are forced to be together, such as magical callings, a bigger dragon tells them to, or an instincts to mate. Normal Dragon courting may be like trying to find a one night stand at a bar.
Actual romance is a foreign thing to them, which is why they have no idea how to react to it, or how to do it themselves leaving them feeling quite awkward as shown above.
Also since friendship was frowned upon. I would guess that long term romances are also rare or just doesn’t happen. It may be that dragons court until they mate, lay eggs, raise the kids, and after that they part ways.
But with Ember as dragon lord and making friendship normal and common, maybe long romances will become more common too.
I’d think courting for dragons would involve adding to their hoard. So good luck having the cash to impress her with.
