Can we all agree she has no name, until she’s killed by a security guard while stealing human fat from a liposuction clinic? Then her name is Robert Paulson.

Even as a huge Derpy fan, this Derpy name drama for years is…… How can I say it better.

Actully Lyra is the perfit example, she really was just Lyra in fanon and then this happend.  
 
It was later that one came out with the full name of Lyra Heartstrings.  
And I was there when Derpy got her names said, and everything after.  
My thinking of how one name really isn’t the end all be all for her is from how long I have seen the name debated, I saw all the Derpy vs Ditzy stuff as well.

Bulk Biceps usually has his Snowflake tag still, and that is an example that’d be good to use. As for why we still use that tag… I actually have no idea. I think it was to slowly get people used to the new name by having both names link to each other. But this far in, it is odd. Maybe no-one’s thought to remove his old name since it’s been so long. We’re all just waiting for someone else to sort it out.
 
Lyra’s name though is Lyra Heartstrings in the fanon and canon, completely. She doesn’t have two names. The show tries to respect our name choices, and we do the same back. Derpy was a name we both agreed on, the fans and the show. It was the FIRST of the fan named ponies to get their name canonised even. Making it extra special. Lyra’s name becoming canon was cool, but came nowhere near as amazing as Derpy’s naming.
 
It was a HISTORICAL event! Even if Derpy and Muffins have the same amount of reasoning going for them both, only Derpy had that moment. It was one of the happiest moments for the fandom. Derpy cannot be renamed, for her name represents too much. It is no longer only a name. It is so much more…

True, but it still just really seems stupid to act like any one name for her is the end all be all when she has had more then one name put on her.  
I mena we have a numebr of ponies we still use the fanon name for even with a offical name put on them.  
Lyra Heartstrings was at first Lyra in fanon, the Heartstrings on toys, then Lyra Heartstrings on toys.

Derpy’s name is trademarked by Hasbro. It’s the oldest and the most used. It’d be her name right now if not for this censorship fiasco. That’s why we’re ignoring the 100 different names/symbols she’s been getting.
 
We go through this EVERYTIME she gets a new name. Besides, to try and change after this many years of calling her Derpy wouldn’t even work. Her chance for a namechange expired a while ago. In our hearts (and URL) she can only have one name.

The Funko Vinyl Figures among many other products use “Derpy”. It’s just never written on the front of the packaging. Which is why I am struggling to google up images that prove this. >>660261
 
Way before this silly “Muffins” stuff, her name was being censored in many ways. Some more creative than others. But behind the boxart she’s always officially been “Derpy”.
 
“Muffins” is simply one among many written names she’s had. Including things like “best pony” and so on. No-one’s told what to call her, only what NOT to call her. Check the tag we have for her here fo more evidence. “that one nameless background pony we all know and love”
 
To go with only ONE of the many names she’s been given instead of her original name just makes no sense. Especially when it could change again at any time.

I don’t remember seeing Derpy on the Hasbro made toys, just without a name and showing a muffin image.
 
Edit: No, I have seen packs of the minis, that are made by Hasbro, with the name for her showing a muffin image. Only seen the third party made, licensed stuff use the name Derpy, and as I said they tend to use the fanon names

The Hasbro made toys and products use “Derpy”. You argued they used “Muffins” to say Muffins was more canon. But that’s not true. I’m not talking about the non-Hasbro ones.

Not to start anything again but I just wont to point out the toys and products where the name “Derpy” is uses was by another party and not Hasbro, and they tend to use the fan names.

Her name is Derpy, even if the staff aren’t allowed to call her that anymore. She’s been called Derpy more than any other name, was called it on the show, is called it on many toys and products. A simple bit of censorship doesn’t change the canon. I’ve heard similar arguments when localization alters canon (accidentally, or on purpose), always safest to go with the original idea.
 
I thought we were done with that silly muffins drama last season…
