“Apparently, Twilight wasn’t quite as forgiving to Trixie as she believed herself to be. Same goes for Trixie herself considering, you know, Twilight freed her from the influence of the Alicorn Amulet during that last meeting.”
“Twilight seems to have forgotten the advice Spike told her at the end of the Crystaling fiasco about letting your students have their space to make decisions for themselves. When she eventually re-learns it, she even tells Starlight this word for word near the end of the episode.”
Everyone is happy :Exposition

Yeah this whole lesson thing is getting a bit boring, all episodes just follow a generic scheme:
Everyone is happy, then there is a problem, they solve the problem, everyone is happy again….repeat.
At least they could try some deeper story lines.
But really, though, seems like drama bait.
Well, Twilight was somewhat right. But, not entirely. It really did turn out that Trixie saw Starlight as her first real friend, even though she also felt like she was one upping Twilight.
Except there’s nothing inconsistent about the main characters in this episode. Twilight was acting rather naturally as someone who doesn’t have the experience of a teacher, but at the same time wants to look out for her pupil. Despite what she might have learned before.
If anything, Celestia is the one that seems rather strange in the episode. But, it’s hard to even say that. I thought she was just bored. But, she almost seems uncharacteristically apathetic. She’s just kinda hard to read and doesn’t say anything. She’s not an important part of the episode, though.
Not exactly the same, but maybe she’s thinking about this:

your current filter.Trixie’s demeanor wasn’t help her case either.
Twilight wasn’t wrong, though. She was right. Trixie was using Starlight. She regretted it after she blabbed it out loud.
Back to Magic Kindergarden with you.
Twilight was proven wrong in the end. But, I wouldn’t say that I blame her for her behavior, even despite lessons learned. Trixie didn’t really seem entirely trustworthy until the end of the episode.
And when I looked at Twilight’s actions on Starlight in the second and sixth episodes of season 6 of mlp:fim again, it reminded me of a very famous quote said by an American philosopher named George Santayana, “Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it.”
