Description

“This isn’t the first time Twilight showed distrust and paranoia of a “former” bad guy to the point where she doesn’t trust her friends (though given the way Trixie addresses Twilight, it seems she could have backslid as well).”

“Apparently, Twilight wasn’t quite as forgiving to Trixie as she believed herself to be. Same goes for Trixie herself considering, you know, Twilight freed her from the influence of the Alicorn Amulet during that last meeting.”

“Twilight seems to have forgotten the advice Spike told her at the end of the Crystaling fiasco about letting your students have their space to make decisions for themselves. When she eventually re-learns it, she even tells Starlight this word for word near the end of the episode.”

Yeah this whole lesson thing is getting a bit boring, all episodes just follow a generic scheme:
Everyone is happy, then there is a problem, they solve the problem, everyone is happy again….repeat.
At least they could try some deeper story lines.

Kek, pet/servant, good for only getting smacked around. Sounds about right if the new season curse is to be believed.

But really, though, seems like drama bait.

Except there’s nothing inconsistent about the main characters in this episode. Twilight was acting rather naturally as someone who doesn’t have the experience of a teacher, but at the same time wants to look out for her pupil. Despite what she might have learned before.

If anything, Celestia is the one that seems rather strange in the episode. But, it’s hard to even say that. I thought she was just bored. But, she almost seems uncharacteristically apathetic. She’s just kinda hard to read and doesn’t say anything. She’s not an important part of the episode, though.

I didn’t see it as Twilight not trusting Trixie specifically. I saw it as Twilight not wanting two ex villains influencing each other into possibly bad things.

Twilight wasn’t wrong, though. She was right. Trixie was using Starlight. She regretted it after she blabbed it out loud.

Non-Fungible Trixie -

I guess I should also point out that Twilight’s distrust of Trixie overrided her attitude on letting Starlight make friends on her own. She did want Starlight to befriend anybody she chose. But, she obviously didn’t think about the possibility of Starlight befriending someone who was historically untrustworthy.

Twilight was proven wrong in the end. But, I wouldn’t say that I blame her for her behavior, even despite lessons learned. Trixie didn’t really seem entirely trustworthy until the end of the episode.

Usually it takes time for that person or pony to be able to earn that trust again. I guess Twilight needs to learn to never bear a grudge against some one, or some pony.

And when I looked at Twilight’s actions on Starlight in the second and sixth episodes of season 6 of mlp:fim again, it reminded me of a very famous quote said by an American philosopher named George Santayana, “Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it.”

Non-Fungible Trixie -

If you watched the episode, Trixie said it herself that when people forgive you, it doesn’t autimatically mean that they will truly trust you. And, it’s true. Even when people really want to forgive others for what they did wrong, there is still that bit of distrust that they just can’t let go unless they’re really proven otherwise.

Yes, because it makes perfect sense to blindly trust the jealous girl who did her very best to annoy you and made no attempt at seeming even a little bit sincere.
