But are the wonderbolts military? Sure, we’ve been told they have military roots, but other than one failed attempt to stop a dragon, we haven’t seen them do anything military related. Sure, people have pointed out the parallels between the wonderbolt academy and boot camp, but it could just as easily be any other sports training camp. We don’t see any sort of combat training or wilderness survival, and the wonderbolts don’t have any real military ranks, just a team captain. Plus from we’ve seen, they are way too small to be a standing military force. Not to mention never seeing them during any of the disasters that have struck the land. So we’re basically left with two options, they’re either a sports team that promotes some negative practices (ala Rainbow Falls and Rarity Investigates), or they’re a terribly incompetent aerial strike force that even random civilian ponies can outperform in combat.

Look, I just checked, and one of your replies in that whole rigmarole of a thread was to his post where he clearly laid out his position. TJ got what what was happening in the episode and was just cartoonishly exaggerating the point for a joke.
 
Anyway, I don’t want THIS to become a shitshow, so I’m backing off. The point is… he was always just joking.

It’ll probably take you all of five minutes to go through those comments, maybe ten if you aren’t the strongest reader. And why do your glasses only cover the bottom half of your eyes? What use is that?
 
Also, why do you (or anyone, really) use the light theme? Do you like staring at light-bulbs?

The only difference between the nicknames given in the episode and the ones given to real life pilots is vulgarity. The military really doesn’t want you getting an ego under any circumstances.
