I was playing devil’s advocate. There’s a lot of people who really would have loved to see a Sunset and Celestia reconciliation scene. Personally, I’m just glad that it happened at all in whatever nebulous state of canonicity this book is.

Wasn’t he asked if they were canon and I think he said something along the lines of “he thinks so but you can ignore it if you want”?  
I think at this point it’s canon material that has zero impact nor references in the show.

There should be references just because they’re the same continuity. The writers have said so, and Big Jim said he was joking when he implied they were separate. Nothing wrong with the occasional reference as long as it’s nothing intrusive.

Well Flash did have a couple of cameos in season 4, so there’s that. Nothing about the mirror as far as I know, though.
 
 
But in my opinion, I just don’t see the point to reference it in the show. Literally none. Some might argue “to promote EqG” but the EqG movies already serve that purpose and they work a lot better as movies than a episodic show like FiM.
 
I’m just saying that EqG making little references to Sunset’s relationship with FiM Twilight and Celestia, wouldn’t be that bad, but I say this only because it’s part Sunset Shimmer’s character background. The rest should be kept contained.

Ya’know it will be funny whenever Sunset is back in Equestria and ask Celestia about all the stuff she sent and Celestia was oblivious to it. Then they both awkwardly look at Twilight, and Twi only response was that she was busy with Starlight :P

I think they should have minor references (like having Flash in the show. they should put the mirror in the background sometime, too), but other than that keep them separate. Don’t have characters from EqG come hang out in the show or anything, though.

What happens in Equestria Girls stays in Equestria Girls. Keeping this and FiM separated as possible is always good in my book.
 
But…Yeah, if Celestia and Sunset somehow already had their reconciliation, it wouldn’t be bad if they at least show details like this in one scene. Sunset writing to them about whatever. Or something that shows they are in good terms. Not much with Twi because we already know they are ok, but with Celly.
 
I do agree that them showing the reconciliation would have been better, but well…

If I remember well, in Rainbow Rocks Celestia just pretty much gives away her magical book to Twilight. So naturally the messages are received by her. Sunset probably just points out Twilight which messages are addressed to Celestia so that she can receive them.
 
So yeah, Twilight does have power to deny messages from Sunset to Celly, but c’mon, Twi can be a bit of a sourpuss sometimes, but she’s not a cunt.

How does Celestia even reply you back, heck how does she even read your messages? Does Twilight relay the message to Celestia? Doesn’t that mean Twilight has the power to deny any messages from Sunset to Celestia??? So many questions!!!

Both staff & Hasbro are content keeping EG characters out of the show.  
They are two different series after all.

Even ignoring that they seem to be trying to keep the movies and show a bit separate now, having Sunset return to Equestria, even temporarily, seems like it would be a bad idea. We get entire seasons in Equestria each year, we don’t need it taking away EqG screentime, too.
