That short snout
Older Rarity is best bulldog!
Well, try to keep in mind that this story was planned and written during the hiatus between season one and season two. When all we knew about magic was the original 26 episodes. So that left a lot more up to interpretation. Considering that Twilight went to a magic school, it makes sense to think that certain spells such as teleportation could be taught. We don’t know it’s something rare. In fact arguably we don’t even know that even as late as season six, because it’s never really been said.
Plus considering the way the world developed, towards a magitek version of Fallout 50’s SCIENCE!, it’s believable that ways would be found to teach magic more easily. I don’t have a problem with Rarity learning to teleport. Honestly if she started doing it in the show I’d be okay with it.
You could have teleported yourself, but you didn’t.
Good show, Rarity. Good show.
From what I recall, this is a very minor point in the fic; up until we see Rarity’s untimely demise, her ability to teleport isn’t played up as anything extraordinary. There are a few references to Twi teaching her how to do it and how it’s more difficult than it looks, but, other than that, I don’t believe the story went any more in depth on this point.
And, honestly, we’re talking about a story where ponies and zebras blew up the world. The author made far more liberal deviations from pure show-canon than this.
>So was there explanation for that or was rarity made into more of an OC than the Canon rarity we know?
It’s still Rarity having one extra ability doesn’t change her character into something else. If the problem you have is that she can teleport then you’re really nitpicking this story cause it’s not even made a big deal out of in the story and it’s the only time she does it, as mentioned before she had the Black Book she likely learned it from the book if you can’t accept that as an explination than just try to have a little suspension of disbelief.
But that’s what confuses me. Teleportation is something a regular unicorn can’t just learn. Twilight’s special talent is magic and she has a huge amount of magical power as it’s made clear in the show. Rarity is a normal unicorn and her special talent is finding gems. Rarity can’t just learn teleportation. That’s why I wanted to know what gave rarity that magical power so Twilight could teach her Teleportation. Saying all unicorns can learn magic just like that just sounds like one would say Twilight’s special talent doesn’t mean anything and it also sounds like one doesn’t know the Canon world. Yes, I know this is from a fanfiction but I’d still like it if there is a proper explanation and characters are just like they are in the show and not just author’s strange decision that rarity now suddenly can learn spells as if she has Twilight’s level of magical power. Rarity just learning teleportation makes just as much sense as Applejack just learning to teleport. So was there explanation for that or was rarity made into more of an OC than the Canon rarity we know?
Rarity had the Black Book for a long time. Even Littlepip, who couldn’t cast any regular spells, learned the blood sword thing from it. Perhaps Rarity learned it that way?
The same way Twilight got good. Practice, practice, practice.
Is that all there is to it? So Twilight taught her but how did Rarity get that much magical power? It’s not something normal unicorn can do. Twilight with magic as her special talent had to study for years and even then her early teleportations were hard for her to do. Was there some kind of magical power transfer or magical amulet or the like?
Twilight taught her.
Just checked, and I have read precisely twelve chapters. Ten if you don’t count the prologue and intro.
Yeah, Rarity was pretty amazing in that story. Especially her involvement in the creation of the Statuettes, which were an absolutely brilliant display of generosity.
Although my personal favorite would probably have to be Velvet, since she takes such a hard road through out the fic; trying to maintain a highly sense of morality while being dragged through the horror show that is the Wastes. It makes all the little victories she manages seem that much more precious. But, honestly a lot of the characters were pretty great. :D
@Eeveeinheat
To be fair, the start of Fo:E isn’t its strongest part. But if you’ve read the first 10 chapters, then you probably have pretty fair assessment of whether you’d enjoy reading the rest.
Edited
They just feel weird. I can’t explain it. I’ve read stories that were 2.5 million words long and had much longer time skips, but the way FoE did them just felt non-engaging for me.
The time skips aren’t even long like a day at the most.
I would read it, but I found the first ten chapters boring. Too many time skips for me to get engaged.
She was already infected.
Seems like she should have just teleported herself with them.
