Looks lore like he is talking. I wonder how he/she/it would sound.
Funnily enough, THIS video just published explains what just happened perfectly. I shared it starting at 37:45, so let it play from there. He’s talking about backwards messages in music being influenced by top-down processing–which is what I was talking about, yet didn’t know the psychological name for It’s the same type of mental trickery that is happening in this case.
Also, maybe watch the entire thing once you finish that small snippet? It’s genius. I can’t imagine anyone–excluding people who believe in the supernatural to a fault–will find it anything less than extremely thought provoking. Granted, I knew a lot of the stuff he talks about already, being a natural skeptic at heart (in the true meaning of skeptic, not the mainstream idea of skeptic), but it’s still great to get a refresher.
It depends on whenever he was in invasion force or not. If he was, it’s about forgiveness instead.
I personally think it might be an episode similar like with zecora in season 1 where they learn about not all strange or different looking people are evil or weird; in short an epsiode about racism and stereotypes
Low-Quality trailer, he’s clearly speaking “he”.
Same trailer, but Hi-Quality, he’s clearly speaking “she”.
I don’t know what to think anymore.
@thps48
Zootopia is great and all, but in some aspects it’s pushing it’s message too far. Word “cute” as some sort of racial slur? Eh, no, thanks, I don’t want to live in “open-minded” world where you can’t call someone cute.
Nope, I’m curious about that too. I’d assume he’s probably going to sound normal, but I kinda hope that his voice is distorted somehow. It’d be a neat way to make the changelings unique compared to everyone else we’ve seen so far.
Go where? We’re already discussing the implications of race, species, and prejudice concerning Changelings as proposed by Zootopia. <3<
Well, a race and a religion are different matters. However, please don’t go there as it will create a massive argument and derail the comments.
Point being, me want moar Chrys. X3
Remember, the Great and Honorable Spike the Brave and Glorious is a national hero in the Crystal Empire. If he vouches for the changeling’s good character, the Crystal Ponies will accept it. He’s probably the only one who could persuade them, actually.
Now, what I’d like to see (but doubt seriously if they’d do) is for the changeling to really be a villain and just playing Spike, using him to ingratiate himself with the ponies.
an uproar on what I just commented regarding the Changeling crying
tears of joy as its holding hooves with the Princess of Friendship:
~Comment~
Twiling (Princess Twilight Sparkle x Changeling).
{I’m just gonna leave now; sorry about this.} =(
P.S. - A new shipping pair ignited in almost every
“Friendship is Magic: Season 6” episode thus far;
I had to debate if it will work with this episode.
WASH AWAY THE SORTOW ALL THE STAINS OF TIME 83
Makes sense; one person either goes in wanting it to be female or hears the line though really terrible speakers, comments that it’s a she, and now everyone’s expectations are changed going forward.
I expect them to just go along with it because Spike asks them to, like the bland, brainless and unchallenging porridge they and their citizenship are built from.
Okay, look, I appreciate what this episode is going to do, I truly do. It’s likely intended message is sadly very relevant even in these modern times, but what concerns me is the method the promos suggests it will take.
The Bridle Gossip message about ’Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover’ is a perfectly message, but it’s not easy to preach when you take the episode’s context into consideration. Let’s remember, Zecora was feared and distrusted because ponies hadn’t met zebras before, it was a fear of the unknown. When it comes to changelings, there is a well-established and ongoing threat from their species started by when their Queen invaded the capital. These are creatures whose entire schtick is about shape-shifting trickery and who have the potential to completely master espionage.
The Crystal Empire has been through so much trauma in its history, be it King Sombra, a near apocalyptic Equestria Games, their youngest Princess nearly destroying their home, etc. You can hardly blame them for panicking when they hear reports of a changeling spy in their home. And when it comes to Princess Candyflank and ol’ Shiny Poo, I’ll say this up front, they are perfectly within in their rights to not like, let alone trust changelings.
But I worry that this episode isn’t going to treat Shining and Cadence as either justified or sympathetic. That Shining especially is going to instead be painted as a one-note, racist ’authority jerk’ to serve as the designated antagonist to Spike and the Changeling, probably alongside Twilight, until they are ’enlightened’ by episodes end.
Let’s not kid ourselves, our sympathy and support is obviously going to be with Spike and the Changeling, which will be made all the easier if the writers make the opposing side almost entirely unsympathetic and treating them like they have no leg to stand on. It’s an old trick to strawman another main character to make the ’misunderstood/reforming bad character’ look better. Fanfiction about changelings had done this for the best of four years, getting it down to a fine art.
And let’s face it, My Little Pony isn’t always the best show for subtlety and nuance. It’s good, but when it comes to themes like prejudice, ’Zootopia’ it is not.
All I can hope is that I’m proven wrong, because I do believe that this episode has a ton of potential to get a great message across through an interesting and heartfelt story. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Shit, I remember the dress thing, and consequently, now I wish I didn’t. XD
I am convinced people were tricking themselves into hearing the ‘sh’. No one else heard it until one person mentioned it, then people who heard he came back and said they heard she. It’s not their faults, but it does happen sometimes. It’s similar to the dress thing, but different in how it’s caused and processed by the brain.
Edited
Yeah, after looking up the trailer again, it’s a pretty distinct “he.” Not sure exactly which video I’d seen before, but there was some debate in the comments, and I thought I remembered there being enough static/background noise to potentially sound like an “s.”
