Pencils is one of a short list of artists who keep me coming back, checking for updates. It is a VERY short list.

This was a well deserved feature, if only for the people involved. Pencils was always a fantastic artist giving us godly content, and a good writer too with a great sense of humor. Getting to see his work in physical form in the official MLP comics was so dang cool. To get to the part and think “I know this style” but you check the credits and it’s some guy I’ve never heard of… ‘Course, that was just his real name it turned out.
 
It’s cool to think back to then, and to now, and see how things have changed. Remembering the thrill of a new page. Even if that is gone, Pencils isn’t gone. And on a kinda related note, I’m still friends with the colorist he had. It just makes it hard to think of these as “memories” when so little in this fandom has really ended or stopped. Instead, it’s just changed course a few times.

He’s the hardest working pony artist (and other stuff) in the business. Between IDW, the Bowsette comic, and commissions, AND a few side bits (Marble’s comic even!), it’s definitely not an artist on their cooldown cycle.

I love how strong the Mom’s normal hug is. Maud definitely got her strength from her.

Pencils has had some rough real life issues, between that and working for IDW, continuing this is tough.
