Finally this silly comic is done. I sketched it out Monday and Tuesday, then took a break worked on it a bit Friday, and finally finished Sunday by putting in about 10 hours today to finish it. I’m glad its finally done and I can move on.
I don’t think that means she was a “hermit,” she just didn’t understand how important friendship was, and wasn’t very social. Even the first ep’ showed she had some aquaintences, and ponies whom knew her trying to invite her to a party. (Which gets a callback episode later.)
Also, relationships with family are a bit different then friendships with others. Plus, she mostly socialized with him when they were younger, she even stated she missed him.
By that logic, then her being around Spike contradicts her whole “not having time for friends” schtick too. But like Shining, he’s more like a brother too.

@Beau Skunky
Not to mention that Twilight proceeds to break into a song of how important of a friend he was… when it’s clearly established that past Twilight was all “got no time for friends”.
And probably why they didn’t mention Maud Pie or Fluttershy’s family appearing out of nowhere :3

My bad.
I wasn’t refering to the artist, nor comic above in regards to that, I’m sorry if it seemed that way.
Indeed.
I believe that was actually “The Cutie Mark Chronicles.”
Although “Call of the Cutie” kinda goes in the opposite direction by dropping in Sweetie Belle in without bothering to mention her being Rarity’s sister.
@Beau Skunky
If it helps, this isn’t a “still griping” thing so much as a “comic from 2012” thing.
@Beau Skunky
Which makes it that much funnier that Pinkie’s the one grumbling in the last panel. Kinda becomes one of those pot/kettle things, doesn’t it?
He probably even brought Cadence with him and wanted to announce they’re starting to date.
Man that just makes pop into my head:
Shining Armor: “Hey sis!Guess who came all the way to Ponyville for your birthday!”
Shining Armor:”…”
Shining Armor:“Hello?”
The party was hosted at the castle and he didn’t even stop by. Looking back on it knowing what we know now she probably hosted it there specifically so he could come.
Honestly, no… Could easily be countered considering, nothing ever said only 2 alicorns existed, and nothing ever said whom the captain of the royal guard was, nor anything saying Twi’ never had a sibling.
Considering, Twi’ lived in Canterlot, and is Princess Celestia’s student, is it really that odd a coincidence her brother works with the royals too? Many ponies work for them I imagine.
Meanwhile, “Call of the Cutie” only showed that Pinkie had 2 sisters. So that was more of an ass-pull to me. (Though, a good one, sense Maud is a unique & popular character.) Still, one could argue Maud was busy with some rock farm duty, and joined the party later as an easy way to write around that.
Though, honestly part of me just wants to repeat to himself the MST3K mantra. “It’s just a cartoon,” I’ve seen worse revisions, contradictions, or rewrites honestly in other shows. (Heck, many older cartoons had no continuity whatsoever.)
@MadVillan
Could’ve been busy with his job.
I really appreciate all the work you’ve done, comic artist. I thought of the same idea a few times before too, I call this “revisionist history” :3
Probably the scale of the reveal.
Maud is just another rock farmer back home, coming by for a visit.
Shy’s family is pretty normal as well, prick brother included.
Whereas Shining is Leader of the Guard, getting married to the Third Alicorn we apparently always had.
You get what I am saying?

Frankly, I thought Maud Pie was more contradictory, (remember >>539316 this?) and “out of nowhere,” but nobody minds that much, ’cause Maud rocks!
