V You’re doing great, man :) She does indeed become lovelier and lovelier.
I think it’s actually pretty good now. I really can’t put my finger on anything specific (other than what was mentioned and what would require a major redraw).
I’d slightly lower the corners of her mouth, though. Just by a teensy-tiny bit. The curves still look a little exaggerated. They don’t look particularly aggravating, but I think they’d look a bit better this way.
Anyhow, glad to be of help. And I really do suck at drawing. I may have a good eye, but I usually have a lot of trouble putting the mental image on paper.
It seems to have got a lot better though. How surprising to get good adivices from someone pretending not to know how to draw.
Do continue, please. Anything else?
V Come to think of it - her eyes to nose to mouth ratio would permit a slight enlargement of the upper lip.
Her nose is located rather high, so if the upper lip becomes slightly thicker, this will mitigate her smile’s curve without making it look straight and unsmile-ey, and without messing up the overall face composition :)
Check again.
Last offer, the shape of the mouth can’t be altered any further. If I did so, it wouldn’t even look like a smile anymore.
Check deviantart again.
V Well, I suck at drawing, so I use whatever dirty tricks I can to make my pictures look decent and natural :)
Also, yes, changing the eyes can be tough, but I think you can do a lot more with her mouth. Just try to obscure the corners of it with another layer and see what can be done.
Well, I tried to modify the smile a little bit, but the difference is really uncanny.
About the eyes: I can not change this anymore, as the whole painting process is way too long to redo.
I would have done it like you, with reversal and everything, but I consider this to be the lazy way. And somehow, I prefer to do the whole drawing and painting process without this kind of help.
By the way, I’d really love to upload the image another time, but I think this would be spamming. And as DB doesn’t allow changing the image…
Check my deviantart for finished piece.
V Mouth corners are way too high and too curved-up, mouth itself seems too wide. Lower lip seems to be wider than the upper one.
A smile would look like that if she’d be looking at us from below. She’s looking straight at us, so her mouth should be (mostly) straight, with slight curves at its corners.
I think “cutting off” about 1\4, or even up to 1\3 off each side of her mouth would prove better.
About the eyes. I use either reversing if I’m working with digital images, or tracing if I’m working with paper. When it comes to faces, I often divide the face by 2 and reverse one side to match the other.
The smile? Molestia exaggerated?
It’s almost straight, not a smile anymore!
I tried to reduce it, but nothing noticeable.
About the eyes: ever heard that when you manage to draw a perfect eye, the other one is almost always terrible?
Well, at least you could have begun by saying this. I’m tired of the “creepy” jokes…
I guess this is the internet.
V Not trolling. It’s the smile. It’s really, really exaggerated. Like Molestia exaggerated.
Also, her eyes are slightly off-position. Right eye could be moved a couple of milimeters down. Could be the shading, but her left eye seems to be of a slightly different shape than the right eye - especially the upper eyelid curve.
Otherwise, I love the detail and the shading. Seems like a lot of work and I salute you.
DO A PINKAMINA LIKE THIS!
You should show me some of your pieces. What I lack in small details, I have it in technique and shadow practice.
That said, I do envy your ability with shading and details. That’s beyond my skills at this point.
I’ll be using this one as a reference for future possible errors.
Thanks for the help, still ;)
If we count slight asymmetry and exaggerated proportions in some places as art style, I think your hard work is complete.
I think I’ll actually save that one in my Humanizations MLP folder :)
Been a pleasure. Good luck with painting :)
I hope this si the end of our journey…

What now?
While I realize that it’s unintentional, but it looks like she has a bit of an underbite. Lower lip needs to be shorter.
With the shorter lower lip, the need for widely-positioned mouth corners will be eliminated, and, I think, it will look much, much more natural.
