Less deliberate though. Normally they’re completely unintelligent. They just adopt slight traits from their “father”. One with a fierce species as a father would be inclined to attack a threat, while one with a more timid “father” would hide or flee from a threat. This one just has so much “pony” in her that she’s formed a personality, pony appearance, and intelligence. Even despite her instincts, she’d not have forced herself on Mac had he turned her down, for example.

Technically she doesn’t have them. She’s not a real goo pony in the species sense. Her species is normally just a shapeless, featureless aggressive unintelligent blob. Somehow this one mutated and developed a personality and mimicked a pony shape to match.
 
What I’m thinking as a backstory, is this species mates with males of other species and the resulting offspring adopt “traits” from them. Quiddity just happens to be a fourth or fifth generation of this species that has happened to have a pony “father”, and thus has enough “pony” in her so to speak to be a fundamentally different creature.
 
That said she’s not an inherently malicious creature. She just doesn’t really know any better and is following her instinct to “reproduce reproduce REPRODUCE”.
 
(That said, they’re born in “litters” of 8-10. That means she has a lot of similar siblings pulling the same shit. Note I said “siblings”, not “sisters” :D )
