Heh… Instead of killing your opponents, use age spells to turn them into babies, rendering them effectively “dead” in that they’re no longer capable of bringing about the change they originally set out to.
 
Now instead of changing the world for the worse, they need a changie, themselves :p
 
Throw in a memory spell and you’re basically hitting “restart” on their lives.
 
This would be fascinating to see in the nature vs. nurture debate, though ponies could always argue that the spell isn’t perfect or something.

Actually, it would explain why the mane 6 look like the founders of Equestria, and some ponies are outright missing (Like R.D.‘s mom, A.J.‘s and Flutter’s Parents, etc.). Old ponies are merely ponies who don’t want to start over, yet. For one reason or another.
