I just see Trixie x Blueblood as far more likely. They have so much more in common.

Both interested in magic, Trixie’s likely need to compete in everything and Twilight’s general innocence / social cluelessness; works for me.

I don’t know about that. Trixie was only there to perform. While Twilight didn’t like her, she didn’t go out of her way to fuck with her show. Trixie doesn’t really have a reason to dislike her.
 
Until Trixie realizes that mentorship under Princess Celestia, the Element of Magic, an apparently high-paying library position, many wonderful friends, and a guaranteed place in the history books all fell into Twilight’s lap without her doing anything to earn them. Which would show Trixie that her life of hard work, perseverance, determination, and independence in the face of terrible odds, all of her incredible effort, all of her dreams, have meant absolutely nothing in the end.
 
I can imagine Trixie hating Twilight very, very much for showing her that life is based entirely on luck. Trixie’s worked all her life to make a name for herself, and has nothing to show for it. Twilight hasn’t worked for anything, and has everything.
 
The envy and hatred run deep. Of course, this is all perceived… Twilight’s by no means a bad pony and has by now earned her keep. But it was pure luck that started the whole chain of events, after all…

I actually think something like that. Except she only respects her as someone would respect their arch-enemy. And she’s hellbent on surpassing her. (And most certainly could.)

Heard of it. But if somebody showed ME up like that, well let’s just say I wouldn’t exactly be on their doorstep with a bouquet any time soon.

At the same time, I get the feeling Trixie actually respects Twilight a great deal. She fantasizes about torturing and brutally murdering her friends though. Except Pinkie and Flutters.
 
Well, after a while she’d want to beat the shit out of Pinkie.

Hard to tell, really, Twilight seemed to be the nicest to Trixie in the ep, but she was only in one, so we can’t really judge.
